SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit – New Fiori App in CE2008
Dear SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit User!
With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2008 we released a new Fiori App for Migration Cockpit.
Within this new app we combined the different migration approaches file and staging. From now onward, staging tables will be created automatically – depending on your selection during project creation either on the local SAP S/4HANA Database or on a remote SAP HANA Database schema.
You can populate them easily by using XML template files (as your are already used before) or use SAP or third-party ETL tools.
The old Fiori app will be still available, deprecation phase starts CE2011:

Hi Sybille Lackermeier,
Could you please clarify if this released is for S/4HANA Cloud only?
Or we will have for S/4HANA 1909 FS01 as well.
this new Fiori App is released first time in CE2008.
It is planned also to be availalble for OP2020 onwards, No downport to 1909.
I got to here because it seems that the LTMC no longer is available for my version of S/4. So is this the SAP preferred method now ?.
Also the Video link you have does not work.
with OP 2020 we introduced the SAP Fiori app for migration cockpit, still transaction LTMC was available but not recommended any more. New features come only with the Fiori app.
From OP2021 onwards, transaction LTMC is in display mode available only.
Please check this blog post the get on overview on functions available in migration cockpit: https://blogs.sap.com/2022/06/07/sap-s-4hana-migration-cockpit-staging-tables-release-comparison/.
For the video link: sorry - SAP Help Portal seems to be rearranged. We have a video library where you can find them: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_ON-PREMISE/29193bf0ebdd4583930b2176cb993268/8acc6d32435247a6b411bca7139409fe.html?version=latest
Also I saw some of your other questions: If your source system is an SAP R/3 -> maybe consider using the migration approach "Direct Transfer" where you connect to the source via RFC and data is fetched from there without filling XML templates files.

Thanks! are there any guidelines on which option should be taken. Staging or Direct ?
no general recommendations possible; depending on customer situation.
In case of SAP ECC system as source system, consider using Direct Transfer as data is fetched via RFC automatically.
