Customer segmentation using reports in Cloud ERP SAP Business ByDesign

With the 20.08 release of Cloud ERP SAP Business ByDesign marketing employees can segment target groups by using reports and refresh for periodic execution of campaigns.

Here is a quick demo:

Here is the list of steps you need to do:

  1. Define report view with selection and filter criteria
  2. Save definition as bookmark to make the combination of selection and view available for the target group
  3. Create a new target group based on report data
  4. Select the bookmark and characteristic
  5. Fetch the members from the report
  6. Create one or multiple campaigns e.g. direct mail, export

      Hi Jan,

this is a great new feature for ByD! I tried the following on top:

      1. I created a new report based on an existing master data source (CUSTOMER) and created a new bookmark. I can select that bookmark in the target but it does not show any characteristic.
      • Is this a known restriction as only analytical transactional data and no master data is supported?
      1. I also created a new data source (left outer join) by joining CUSTOMER and CRMCIVHB. I created a new report on that new data source and a bookmark in it. I cannot select this bookmark in the target group at all.
      • Is this a restriction that only bookmarks in reports based on standard data sources can be used or is it possible to also create new data sources for that purpose of segmentation?

      Cheers,

      Sebastian

      Hi Sebastian,

great to talk to you again after such a long time ;o)

In general the key prerequisite to use the capability is to have “Account” as a characteristic in the bookmark i.e. in the view and its selection. If there is no account available in the view or the result set then you can’t use it.

Let me check with the DEV team if this is limited only to standard data sources.

Raffael Lutz : Can you answer?

      Cheers

      Hi Sebastian,

there is no restriction so you can use it also for custom reports. Please double check if you custom report is assigned to a work center as this is needed for getting the access context. This might be one of many reasons why your custom report does not show up....

If you still have issues please create a ticket to allow us to check in your tenant.

      Cheers
