Accelerating Innovation with the Business Application Factory

Hi everyone,

over the past two months, we have briefed Mint Jutras (an independent business analyst firm specialized in bench-marking the performance of software solutions) on the concept of the Business Application Factory.

Together with Rainer Zinow, we presented our vision of providing a shared development platform to our partners in the SMB space.

We call this shared platform the Business Application Factory. The factory will enable our SMB partners to build new extensions and apps for SAP Business ByDesign and SAP Business One using the very same cutting-edge technology and proven components SAP is using in-house to innovate the SMB ERP portfolio. We believe this will allow partners to add more value, more quickly to our customers, increase the reach and scope of our solutions at low cost and risk and create an attractive business ecosystem around easy to adopt, and easy to adapt cloud ERP solutions.

  • Hello Christian Horak,

Can we know the following about the Business Application Factory

    1. When this will be available for the partners to start to use/develop the applications?
    2. Can we have a developer guide or application factory usage procedure documents?
    3. What changes at the Partner end is mandatory to have this new dev environment adopted?
    4. Is there any official page or community group which can give more insights about Business Application Factory?

Thanks for your responses. Your answers will help us (Partners) to enable the teams internally for the new changes coming in.

    Regards

    Hanu K

      • Thanks, Christian Horak! This is awesome to know that we will have some exciting news about the environment in Q1 2021.

Could you please update here how a partner company can be part of this initial program  (mentioned in Point 1) to let SAP know their feedback about the BAF?

After launching the BAF will the SAP Cloud Application Studio and SDK exists and be available for partners to continue the ongoing and already developed solutions?

Your response will be very helpful for us to plan ahead for upcoming updates.

        Regards

        Hanu K
