SAP Named a Leader in Gartner 2020 Magic Quadrant for Multiexperience Development Platforms
SAP has been named a leader in Gartner’s 2020 Magic Quadrant for Multiexperience Development Platforms (MXDP). The report recognized SAP as a leader based on its “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision,” after evaluating the SAP Cloud Platform Extension Suite against 16 other vendors. Gartner cited strengths in three areas:
- Innovation – Enhanced capabilities on a flexible architecture for microapps, conversational AI, and virtual assistants. SAP also scored well in our ability to deliver mobile and modern web/progressive web app (PWA’s) use cases.
- Core Backend Services – Universal mobile service architecture based on the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) enables development of fit-for-purpose apps.
- Sales & Pricing Model – Reference customers scored SAP as above average compared to other vendors in value for spend, pricing, and contract flexibility via the Cloud Platform Enterprise Agreement (CPEA).
SAP’s multiexperience development offering consists of SAP Cloud Platform Extension Suite’s Digital Experience portfolio, including SAP Business Application Studio, SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Services, SAP Fiori development tools, and SAP Conversational AI services.
The Digital Experience tools enable customers to build modern web and mobile apps, chatbots for SAP applications, and custom apps on SAP Cloud Platform. SAP supports development by providing low-code tools for citizen developers, as well as professional and cloud native developer tools, supporting native architectures, cross-platform and web-based app architectures.
