SAP Application Interface Framework road map now in SAP Road Map Explorer

If you were looking lately for the SAP Application Interface Framework road map, you will notice that the slides have been removed. Like for any other SAP product and solution, you can now access the SAP Application Interface Framework road map in the SAP Road Map Explorer, a new tool providing you an interactive road map experience.

As described in this blog, we ship SAP Application Interface Framework features via different delivery channels: as add-on, within SAP S/4HANA, and within SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

If you like to see all SAP Application Interface Framework related road map topics, search for the business capability Interface Monitoring and Error Handling, direct link here. By default the time range is set to Current to Last. If you like to see features that we have shipped in the past, you can adapt the time range.

Thanks Alexandar for sharing this . Currently in S/4HANA Cloud AIF support is very minimal . What can we expect with Odata Enablement in Cloud with Q3 Release and will it be available with S/4HANA Cloud 2008 ?

Will AIF Support all REST APIs ; it would help in case you can throw some light on this .

      Hi Taranamjit,

actually we do support sync OData in AIF already today, however it simply reads the logs and displays them in AIF monitor, since this is sync there is no restart of messages supported.

For 2008, we plan to support async outbound calls using the OData protocol in AIF, i.e., when calling OData services from within S/4HANA Cloud, inbound is not in the scope.

Not sure what exactly you mean with AIF support in S/4HANA Cloud being minimal, actually we do support the full range of AIF features in S/4HANA Cloud like we do for S/4HANA, in S/4HANA Cloud however customers can't create their own AIF interfaces, so they rely on what the particular LoB area ships. If you are missing a feature for your specific scenario in S/4HANA Cloud, I would propose to enter a feature request at https://www.sap.com/about/customer-involvement/influence-adopt.html

Btw, as explained in the blog, we do have different delivery channels, so the OData support will then also shipped with S/4HANA, and here it's possible to apply it when creating your own AIF interfaces.

      Thanks and Regards
      Alex

Thanks Alexander . Need some more clarification based on your response . My queries are wrt S/4HANA Cloud

"For 2008, we plan to support async outbound calls using the OData protocol in AIF, i.e., when calling OData services from within S/4HANA Cloud, inbound is not in the scope "

There is some ambiguity in the above statement... Can you please  explain What async outbound means? Because OData always is a PULL right? is this still considered outbound? and it always gives a response back, doesn't this mean it's synchronous?

Also what do we mean by inbound odata ... POST call into S/4 right ?

      2. We do have different delivery channels, so the OData support will then also shipped with S/4HANA, and here it’s possible to apply it when creating your own AIF interfaces.

But in cloud we cannot create custom Namespace right  and I cannot do AIF monitoring of OData over Custom CDS Views so not sure hows its possible to create own namespace .

      3. Lastly we always struggle to find information on which Odata is supported by AIF in Cloud .Information available is mostly around SOAP API /IDOCs with AIF in Cloud

Since  you mentioned even ODATA synchronous is supported , but there is not much information available on OData support in S/4HANA Cloud and how to enable it for message monitoring since we cannot manually add namespace and unless its available in namespace we cannot monitor.

There is no Note /help available as well where I can see all ODATA supported for monitoring  , example if I have to use SAP_COM_0054 which is ODATA .. How can i know if in Cloud , AIF  is supported for this Odata since its synchronous one and how do I enable it for monitoring since we dont see namespace for Odata .

Thanks for clarifying...since while implementing S/4HANA Cloud we struggle to find this information whereas for On Premise clarity is there and its well covered in documentation .

      Regards

      Taranam

Same problem here, on S/4 HANA Cloud I can't see incoming OData calls in AIF. Even though I read that it must be available, I don't see any logs or further advices on additional setting etc.
