SAP Data Warehouse Cloud: Introduction to the ABAP-Adapter

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is supporting the ABAP-Adapter to connect, access and replicate data from ABAP managed on-premises Systems.

In this Blog I’d like to get you introduced to the DP-Agent install guide and capabilities of the ABAP-Adapter in the context of a SAP S/4HANA & BW/4HANA on-premises system.

The ABAP-Adapter is capable to connect to the S/4HANA & BW/4HANA Data Dictionary and according objects and artefacts, like:

  • ABAP Tables by Application Hierarchy
  • ABAP Tables by table name
  • Extractors
    • ABAP_CDS
    • BW
    • SAPI (Service API)

Thanks Axel for your blog post,

Is the ABAP-Adapter able to access a Hana calculation view generated in BW?

      Thanks

      Hi Tania Perez Asensio ,

the ABAP connection allows access to dictionary objects like ODP sources (extractors, ABAP CDS Views, InfoProviders in SAP Business Warehouse or SAP BW/4HANA) and SAP ABAP Dictionary tables from SAP ABAP systems (on-premise). More details can be seen in the documentation.

To access HANA native database artefacts like calculation views, please use the SAP HANA connection tile. Axel also described this in another blog/recording.

      Best regards
      KP Sauer
