Decentralized EWM requires ‘Inspection rule’ to be set up as a master data in EWM for creation of inspection from Inbound deliveries. Embedded EWM of S/HANA 1909 release does not require ‘Inspection rule’ to be set up in EWM as discussed in my previous blogpost in link https://blogs.sap.com/2020/03/21/simplification-with-quality-inspection-in-embedded-extended-warehou.... With S/4HANA 1909 release, it is now possible in embedded EWM to create inspection lot with QM inspection type 01(Goods Receipt Insp. for Purchase Order), 04 (Goods receipt inspection from production), 08 (Stock transfer inspection), 09 (Recurring inspection of batches) instead of Inspection lot origin 17 i.e Inspection type 08 can be used instead of Inspection type 1708 for stock transfer.  My present blog is to discuss on the observations with ‘Inspection type 08’ in embedded EWM of S/4HANA 1909 release.

A typical process flow for Inspection at goods receipt of Inbound delivery in embedded EWM of S/4HANA 1909 release for a Stock transfer order between storage locations within same plant is depicted in below image.

Inspection lot of Inspection type 08 gets created automatically on Goods receipt of Inbound delivery in embedded EWM as shown in below image.

This is just another simplification and showcases the benefit of EWM within S/4HANA w.r.t Decentralized EWM.

However, observe that the inspection lot does not get created in embedded EWM of S/4HANA 1909 release if the stock transfer is between two plants i.e not between two storage locations within the same plant. Also tested the flow with stock transfer between plants and receiving storage location is Inventory managed (IM) i.e not EWM, then the inspection lot of inspection type 08 gets created on goods received of inbound delivery.

This blog is based on my personal observation and insights. Will appreciate your feedback / comments.
