I trust that all of you have seen the announcement about the (General Availability) release of SAP Business Application Studio - the next-generation SAP Web IDE, available on SAP Cloud Platform Multi Cloud environment (i.e. Azure, AWS).

With SAP’s focus on Multi-Cloud deployment of SAP Cloud Platform, I am happy to update that the Launchpad Module Extension for SAP Business Application Studio is now available for customers. Customers who implement the portal on SAP Cloud Platform Multi Cloud environment, can now leverage Business Application Studio to develop Launchpad Modules.

How to get started developing a Launchpad Module with SAP Business Application Studio:

  1. Launch SAP Business Application Studio from your SAP CP Cloud Foundry account:

  2. Create a Dev Space:

  3. Set the Dev Space name, chose the application type and select the Launchpad Module extension:

  4. Continue developing your apps and the Launchpad Module

Where can I read more about the new extension? The new Launchpad Module extension documentation is available here.
Is there a migration tool from the SAP Web IDE based Launchpad Module extension to the new Business Application Studio extension? There is no migration tool yet. We will evaluate the demand for such a tool/guidelines based on customers’ demand (please submit an improvement request to provide feedback).
How can I know if I am entitled to use the new Launchpad Module Extension? All customers with valid SAP Business Application Studio license and SAP Cloud Platform Portal license are entitled to use the new extension.
In which data centers SAP Business Application Studio is available? Please see the data centers availability in the SAP Cloud Platform Regions and Service Portfolio page.
Is the new extension available in SAP Cloud Platform trial accounts? Yes.
