SAP Profitability and Performance Management: What to expect in 3.0 SP09?
The SAP Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM) 3.0 is to release SP09 in June 2020 which will offer new features and experiences to administrators and users through
- New contents
- Explicit scale-out routing of PaPM package executions in scale-out landscapes
- Visual Modeler reporting enhancements
To know more about these 3 new items, let me guide you in this blog and discuss with you one by one what you can expect.
1. New contents
there will be 2 new contents to be expected in PaPM 3.0 SP09, these are
- Process Mining on S/4HANA – Claims Management
This allows process mining based on SAP Claims Management data which is helpful for Insurance and other Services Industries.
- PCM to PaPM Activity based Costing
This provides a rules model similar to SAP PCM and thus allows to import rules from SAP PCM quite easily. This will help and accelerate the migration from SAP PCM models to SAP PaPM
2. Explicit Scale-out routing of PaPM package executions in scale-out landscapes
In the modeling application in Environment -> Partitionings -> Partitioning it is now possible to maintain for each Partition Range optionally a SAP HANA Volume, where the package of work should be executed. This can be helpful to achieve an equal load distribution in a scale-out system landscape, when the number of records in the partition range packages are very uneven distributed and the automatic SAP HANA scale out distribution of packages is suboptimal. If the SAP HANA volume is maintained, this will overrule the automatic SAP HANA scale out distribution.
3. Visual Modeler Reporting Enhancements
The new qualitative reporting will supplement the existing quantitative reporting. The main purpose of the qualitative reporting is to support extensive annotations and explanations for input and results data visualizations. This is helpful for many use cases where extensive documentation is required, for instance transfer pricing, sustainability and tax reporting.
- WYSIWYG Document Editor
The what-you-see-is-what-you-get document editor provides word processing like text editing capabilities and allows the inclusion of tables, links, images and videos as well as visualizations of input and results data.
- What-If Simulation (server-side)
Like the existing quantitative reporting also the qualitative reporting supports what-if simulation. So in concrete the change of process parameters as well as data changes, after that the execution of a server run and the update of the result visualizations.
- Client-Side Simulation
The qualitative reporting supports client-side simulation. This supplements the already existing what-if simulation (server-side). So without a server roundtrip and based on the data displayed in the reporting, a client-side script can be executed to recalculate the results based on changed process parameters or data.
- Visualizations of input and results data
Input and results data can be visualized using different chart and diagram types, for instance bar/column, time series, sankey, relationship (value chain) and process (petri network) diagrams. These visualizations can be embedded in the report and are interactive, that means dependent on the chart type and the configuration it allows drilldown to details and drillthrough to other visualizations.
- Flow animation
The flow animation eases the analysis of value chain and process mining visualizations, as it shows the exact flow of concrete processing cases through the network. This is helpful to let the user follow and compare different variants of flows.
This concludes my blog post and hoping that you learned something on what SAP Profitability and Performance Management 3.0 is about to offer in Support Package 09.
Thank you for taking your time to read this post and happy patching!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Great Thanks for sharing
I see that in a demo video..process steps and parameters are being update from digital boardroom and process is being executed from DB as well. Is this integration going to be available in SP09 or it something already available ? Can you please share details?
