During a planned system upgrade / maintenance activity weekend the following error message might appear “Due to an activation error, configuration UIs are for display only”. Please be informed that this message might be misleading and the message text should be as follows: Due to the S/4HANA Cloud Quarterly Upgrade, configuration UIs are for display only, the configuration can continue once the upgrade is finalized.
This topic has been brought to the attention of SAP Product Management / Development and should be fixed shortly.
