SAP Enable Now browser extension overview

Hello SAP Enable Now community!

[This blog was updated on October 23rd, 2023]

Since the SAP Enable Now release 2005 the support for Microsoft Edge 80 based on Chromium is available. With this new feature, we also introduced a new extension called “Enablement Assistant“.

With the 2305 release in May, 2023, the browser extension naming was standardized and branded. Here is a list of the extensions with their current and previous names:

Icon Previous Name Current Name
Companion Extension SAP Companion, browser extension
Enablement Assistant SAP Enable Now, desktop application recorder
Web Recorder Extension SAP Enable Now, browser application recorder

All extensions should be installed automatically when downloading the Producer, Instant Producer or Desktop Assistant and is installed in both your Chrome and Edge browsers. You can also manually install this extension from the Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Store.

Please view the SAP Enable Now Extension Guide for more and up-to-date information.

By the way, did you know that with the 2005 release it will be possible to set the SAP Enable Now default browser to the system default browser? Check out Tools > Settings > General > Preferred Internet Browser to change your setting.

Take care,

Kristina

      Hello Kristina,

Is there a mass deployment guide available for this new version?  Like an MSI package?   Don't want to ask 80,000+ users to install this manually 😉

      Thanks for the post,

      Erik

      Hi Erik,

the SAP Enable Now extension will be installed automatically when users start the Producer, Instant Producer or Desktop Assistant from the Cloud.

This is from the What's New guide: "The enhancement can be activated during the installation of Producer, Instant Producer, and Desktop Assistant, or manually installed via the Microsoft Store."

So right now there is no .msi that we deliver separately. If you see any issues with your users not being able to automatically install it with the desktop component launches, please contact support.

      Take care,

      Kristina

Everything works fine IF you are connected to the internet 🙂

Is it an option (I do think so) for SAP to create a SAP note with attachments containing the latest offline versions of all extensions for SAP Enable Now?

We are not allowed to have outside connections so we have to deploy the .CRX files on our own intranet, but it would be very convenient if we would be able to download those files instead of creating them ourselves each time from external devices.
