Function as a Service already GA, Stop using beta
This blog has been LIVE since 28th April 2020. And now it is the time for us to finally retire the Function as a service (beta). Hence, all the existing FaaS (beta) instances will get cleaned up in the very near future.
For any query, please raise a ticket.
Functions as a service (beta), a fully-managed service for building, running, and managing functions has been available since October 2018 as a beta offering. However, after a week’s time of release of this blog, it will be sunset as based on SAP’s revised cloud strategy, Function as a Service is already available for productive use as a part of SAP Extension Factory, serverless runtime.
SAP Extension Factory, serverless runtime consists of the following:
- Extension Center – a management UI
-
- The Extension Center is provided as a business application. After you have created a service instance for Extension Factory, serverless runtime, you need to Subscribe to the Extension Center business application. Choose the Go to Application link to access the user interface.
- Manage your extensions.
- Functions-as-a-Service for serverless code execution
-
- You can create an instance of serverless function by following Create extensions using the extension center. After creating an extension, you can add functions to enhance your business logic.
- Function Programming Model – the style of programming need to be adopted to develop functions
- OData Provisioning to connect to ABAP Backend systems via SAP Gateway / OData
The productive Function as a Service details available for Customers in SAP Store. It will also be available in Trial sometime soon.
Will the productive Function as a Service also bei available for SAP partners? Will it bei available for partners prior to beta sunset?
Yes it is available under “Extension Factory, severless runtime” which offers functions applications as a capability.
The XFSRT service is GA i.e its available to partners too.
Hope it clarifies.
