Mainstream Maintenance Extended for SAP Identity Management 8.0 and SAP Single Sign-On 3.0

Earlier this month, SAP extended mainstream maintenance for SAP NetWeaver 7.5 until the end of 2027. The SAP Identity Management 8.0 and SAP Single Sign-On 3.0 products are closely tied to SAP NetWeaver since they both run on SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java. Therefore, we aligned the maintenance for both products with the SAP NetWeaver 7.5 release strategy. We are happy to announce that SAP Identity Management 8.0 and SAP Single Sign-On 3.0 will be supported in mainstream maintenance until end of 2027.

For details of the release strategy, please see the Product Availability Matrix (PAM):

For more information about the SAP NetWeaver 7.5 release strategy, see:

SAP Identity Management is a business-driven, compliant solution that helps companies align their identity lifecycle management with key business processes. It helps reduce operational cost in complex on-premise environments, and can be extended to SAP Cloud Platform by connecting with SAP Cloud Identity Services.

SAP Single Sign-On gives users secure access to SAP and non-SAP applications with a single password. It enhances the user experience, strengthens cybersecurity, and streamlines administration. SAP Single Sign-On remains our strategic solution for single sign-on in on-premise environments.

That is great news, however what is the roadmap the coming years and what will we do after 2027? I have visited https://roadmaps.sap.com/welcome#/ but I can't find any information regarding SAP IDM. Is there plans to move IDM functions from NW Java to Gateway/Firoi? What will happens after 2027?

      Hi Anton,

concerning your question about the SAP Identity Management road map:

In Q1 2020, we initiated a Customer Connection program for SAP Identity Management 8.0, emphasizing SAP’s commitment to our customer base with a strong focus on customer-driven development. Customers and partners submitted and voted for feature requests. We evaluated these requests and will implement selected enhancements until Q4 2020, with several more in the pipeline for 2021. These will be shipped via SPs or SAP Notes. Find more details in this blog.

Please check the Customer Influence Platform and our SAP IDM Community for updates.

Concerning your other question, there are no plans to replace NetWeaver Java with any other platform.

      Best regards,

      Martina

      Hi Andrei,

2027 is the end of mainstream maintenance for SAP IDM. Extended maintenance will be available until 2030.

With SAP Cloud Identity Services, we are focusing on supporting the SAP Cloud applications. The services cover authentication, single sign-on and identity lifecycle management for SAP Cloud applications, including comprehensive integration capabilities for third-party solutions. SAP Identity Access Governance (SAP IAG) provides functionality for the specific processes that are required to manage compliant access to SAP business applications, such as business role definition, segregation of duties checks, and compliance processes.

      Best regards
