The COVID-19 pandemic is a challenging time for customers across the globe. It doesn’t need another blog to explain the challenges that companies across the world are facing right now. In our efforts to help customers who are trying to manage the pandemic fall out, iXerv has created a free SAP SuccessFactors extension to enable you to track and manage employee health.
What does the Extension do?
The Extension provides a portlet for Employee Files, a Home Page tile, and a report that can be used for tracking COVID-19 related information for each employee. Our extension is a self-services solution where employees can answer questions about their health, travel movements, concerns, and so forth. Our extension package includes a report that provides aggregated information about the health of employees, as well as which employees have not yet completed the information.
The app was designed by iXerv’s Principal expert, who has over 15 years’ experience working Human Resources and has worked on over 12 SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central implementations.

What are the requirements for deploying the Extension?
There are no specific requirements, other than ensuring that the Metadata Framework and Extension Center are enabled in your SAP SuccessFactors instance. Employee Central is not a requirement for deployment.
How do I deploy the Extension?
iXerv provide a set of step-by-step instructions, along with a video showing the steps being performed. These are available at https://www.ixerv.com/covid-19/.
Is the Extension really free?
Yes. iXerv are not charging or asking for customers to provide any contact information.
What if I need some help to deploy it?
We recommend leveraging your support partner or emailing us at covid19@iXerv.com. iXerv does not plan on charging for any consulting services to provide some support when deploying the Extension. Due to anticipated demand, iXerv will not be able to deploy the solution in your instance on your behalf. However, iXerv will examine each case on a case-by-case basis upon receipt.
Is the Extension legally complaint?
Legal compliance for storing health-related data varies from country-to-country. Regulations like the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) in the European Union (EU) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the United States create requirements around what data can be stored, who can see the data, how consent is managed for such storage, and for how long data can be stored.
iXerv’s Extension has been built to be fully compliant with as many laws as possible, but for a solution that may be used in multiple countries there are of course areas where any solution of this nature may fall into grey areas.
It is advised to consult your legal counsel and/or data privacy officer(s) in each country in which you operate prior to deployment to those countries to ensure you are remaining compliant.
