SAP MDM Catalog Management Maintenance Plans
Following the maintenance plans for SAP SRM, SAP MDM Catalog Management (aka SRM-MDM Catalog) has also adopted an extended maintenance period for the next years. This new maintenance strategy enables our customers to safely transition from SAP Business Suite 7 to SAP S/4HANA and other SAP Cloud solutions.
First, all SRM-MDM Catalog releases are supported until 31 of December 2020.
After this date, only the new version of SRM-MDM Catalog 7.02 on NW 7.50 based on MDM 7.1 SP21 will be supported. Its maintenance period lasts until 31 December 2027.
Important: SAP MDM Catalog Management releases are delivered with SAP SRM application as follows:
– SAP MDM Catalog Management 3.0 is delivered with SAP SRM 7.0
– SAP MDM Catalog Management 7.01 is delivered with EHP1 for SAP SRM
– SAP MDM Catalog Management 7.02 is delivered with EHP2, EHP3 and EHP4 for SAP SRM
Considering this, after 31 of December 2020 if you want to continue using SAP MDM Catalog Management, you may need to upgrade SAP SRM to higher EHP that is compatible with SAP MDM Catalog Management 7.02 on NW 7.50.
You can find further details about this maintenance period in our SAP Notes:

Alternatively to the SRM-MDM Catalog SAP Consulting offers the Consulting Solution Lean Catalog.
Lean Catalog offers a web application for the product search and a content management environment to manage the content of the catalogues.
Highlights of Lean Catalog:
Content Management is done in SAP ERP with CatMan (Catalog Manager). The product hierarchie can be freely defined. Catalog items can be material masters or supplier materials.
With Lean Catalog content management can be done in SAP, e.g. for a spare part catalog, and then be publicated to the Ariba Catalog. ("Syndication")
Lean Catalog is delivered as an Add-On and can be installed in SAP ERP, EHP 7 or higher or in S/4HANA. Beneath the SAP system no additional system landscape is necessary.
