Part 2:SAP Business objects: Let’s make installation simple with combination of Linux and ASE DB

Hello and welcome back!!!

This is part 2 of the blog series installing Business Object on ASE+Linux

Your server is ready to install ASE Database now and lets began…

1.Database Installation

Login to DB server with the user you created previously (example:DBSID)

Go to the installation source directory and run ./setup.bin

 

Please next on Introduction screen and provide installation path as below

Select Full – All the common application fetures will be installed selection and press Next

In my case I am not installing host agent so select No and press Next

Provide license details

Provide license key and select license type (In ma case I am skipping it for now)

Select No on SySAM Notification and press install button

Wait till installation completes

 

Once instillation completes it is time to configure ASE

2.Configuration

As soon as installation completed you will see the next screen

Deselect “Setup ASE HADR” and continue

 

Select No on this screen since you already login with the user you created for your instance

 

Select the path of Data Directory as below

Configure New SAP ASE database now shown as below

 

Click Ok on warning message

Continue with configuration

Configure Backup server

 

Configure XP server

Configure Job Scheduler

Click Next on user screen

Configure Cockpit Host and port

 

Cockpit user passwords

Verify all parameters and click next

 

Wait till process finish

Successful installation screen will be next if everything is okey 🙂

 

Once installation completes next task will be to create CMS and CMSAUDIT database for SAP Business Objects

    Hello Yogesh,

    Thanks for documentation. I remember those days(almost 5 yeras back) when i was installing some Netweaver applications on ASE DB and no such kind of documents were available.

      • Hello Yogesh,

        Yes looks like still same. I had faced some issues during those days and no information were available.Like Updating the License, installation through template.

        So i will request you to put this information: how to install the License after installation or per-installation and how to use Installation setup template.
