Mobile lead scanning with smartphones

SAP Business ByDesign – SAP’s Cloud ERP for the midmarket – with it’s new release 2002 simplifies the mobile creation of marketing leads.

Managers and employees in marketing, sales, & service can create leads on the smartphone by scanning a business cards and also receive them. They do not need to assign an account anymore.

This simplifies work tremendously if you are e.g. on a trade fair and meet dozens of people. Here you can see a demo:

New Capabilities are:

  1. Create lead without account
  2. Scan business card or attach picture from library
  3. Hand-over lead from marketing to sales
  4. Follow-up and qualification of lead can happen on the desktop or smartphone

With this we provide optimized support for quickly capturing leads with less typing on the smartphone.

More details on the SAP Business ByDesign mobile apps can be found here.

      Hi Jan,

      does it mean that although I can scan a business card, ByD can not recognize the information on a business card, someone later on need to manually type in the information from attached Business Card, right?

      Thanks,

      Nancy

      Hi Nancy,

      our focus was in 2002 to enable the capturing of any kind of paper input with minimal effort on the smartphone using Leads and not manually creating contacts and accounts. We encourage all partners to take it as a basis and to extend it e.g. by adding OCR recognition or any other kind of service either on the smart phone or on the desktop. Such kinds of partner add-ons can be built using our SAP cloud application studio SDK.

      In case you want to do this for the mobile you do not need to develop an own app from scratch but extend or copy our existing app - similar to what you might know from the desktop apps. No. it cannot. what an useful device it would be, if it scan qr codes for leads, materials and the likes and populate corresponding fields. Believe it would be available in release Feb 2025

      <insert facepalm>

      This is your call to action, Srivas. Give it a try with SAP Could Application Studio. Here are the links to videos and a sample github repository which shows how to build own or extend existing mobile apps:
