2019 was a fantastic year for SAP IBP, with now more than 700 customers and four releases packed with innovations. We launched the new Demand Driven Replenishment (DDMRP) module, and further strengthened our planning capabilities with driver based planning and the web-based planning app incl business collaboration with external partners.

With this strong recognition, we are looking forward to yet another successful year, spiced with a lot of new innovations, feature enhancements, and new processes being covered.

For the 2002 release, we have compiled a staff-picked four features that we think our customers can benefit most and that can leverage supply chain planning to the next level:

INTELLIGENT VISIBILITY
The Intelligent Visibility app has been introduced with the 2002 release with an initial scope and will be expanded over the course of the year. This new app allows supply chain analysts to view and monitor the supply chain as a network and the exceptions that impact performance.  The app captures and uses data from different sources to provide real-time visibility.

Supply chain analysts can use Intelligent Visibility to visualize the relationships between locations and where disruptions will have an impact to performance.  The analyst can review the performance metrics and impacts of the disruptions and navigate into other areas of SAP Integrated Business Planning to take actions towards resolution. Internal and external supply chain processes and exceptions can be viewed and monitored on a geographic map or in a table.

We have recently recorded a video to explain the intelligent visibility concept in more detail.

PLANNING CALENDARS IN SAP IBP
With the 2002 release, you can now create new planning calendars in SAP IBP by using the Planning Calendars app to achieve more accurate planning – reflecting the diversity of the working schedule of your locations. All public holidays are copied directly from your ECC System into the SAP IBP Planning Calendars app. The planning calendar can be edited in the app directly and additional exceptional days can be defined. The planning calendars can be used for order-based planning as well as for time-series based supply planning.

SUBNETWORKS
With the introduction of subnetworks in SAP IBP order-based planning, Supply Network Planners will have the option to plan only parts of the supply chain network. This allows for example a higher frequency of planning runs to improve the reaction on short term issues. Subnetworks can also be used to keep parts of the plan stable and re-plan other parts again manually or split the network according to different business responsibilities, e.g. if the production planner and distribution network planner want to work independently of each other. You can also use different algorithms for different parts of the network.
Subnetworks include a subset of location materials from the overall supply chain network and every location material is assigned to one single subnetwork.
With the 2002 release we are rolling out an initial scope of subnetworks that will be expanded over the course of the year.

NEW COPY OPERATOR
The new Copy Operator (Advanced) is used to copy key figure values within a planning area or between two planning areas. If necessary, source key figure values are aggregated and target key figure values are disaggregated. The new operator will replace the existing copy operator and the copy and disaggregation operator in a non-disruptive way. It offers the full range of features of the two existing operators plus some additional options.

Greater flexibility: For every key figure pair, you can now define a copy level and decide if missing periods shall be created or target key figure values shall be cleared. This allows you to copy all key figures that are required for a certain process step with one copy operator run.

Improved usability: The new Copy Operator Profiles app allows you to easily define all settings required for a copy operator run. A variety of checks ensures that your profiles are consistent.
