Updated Client Convergence of SAP Analysis For Office 2.8 (with EPM Add-In)

Hello All,

As most of you know, with Analysis for Office 2.1 we have introduced client convergence.

  • i.e. Common client for Analysis Office and EPM , embedded with a single installer.
  • Where EPM Add-in is converted to EPM Plug-In
  • As shown in the below architecture

However with introduction of recently released Analysis for Office 2.8, there is a change in the architecture, as we have dropped EPM plugin code line and replaced it by EPM add-in.

  • i.e. EPM plugin has been removed from the picture and that only EPM add-in remains.
  • With this Customers who have developed “extension/custom development” on top of EPM add-in, will continue to work as part of convergence plan.
  • Now when you install EPM from AO 2.8 setup, this is launching EPM add-in setup and installing (in silent mode) EPM add-in SP36.
  • As shown in the below architecture

EPM Maintenance Plan

  • EPM add-in has no specific maintenance date and as a component of other products, it will be maintained until the latest maintenance date of one of the products it is part (BPC, Financial Consolidation and PCM are other dependent products using EPM)
  • The current maintenance dates for BPC is end of 2024, indeed, really the minimum. Also there are chances that the Financial Consolidation can be extended even after 2024 (thus EPM/BPC will be aligned as well)

Thanks for the clarity. Couple of issues we are seeing with AO 2.8 and EPM Version 10.0 SP 36 is

      1. Search for EPM context members is changed and the searched member is shown but one has to drill down the hierarchy even though the display before search is list view.
      2. We are unable to publish EPM layouts to BI portal which we were able to do till AO 2.5

Is there any workaround for these?

We installed AO 2.8.100.92864 as administrator, but EPM tab is not listed although install says EPM-add in is installed.  In File/Analysis there are BPC options, but no option to add the EPM tab, where have we gone wrong?

Perhpas the add-in was not enabled >> Go to Add Ins >> Com Add ins and ensure that the EPM Office Add in has tickmark (aka enabled) against it.

I am having this same issue...I included the EPM add-in as when installing 2.8 SP2, but the EPM tab did doesn't show.  I checked the Com-Addins and Excel Addin, EPM is not on the list.

We were able to resolve, you have to run executable:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\EPM Add-In\EpmLauncher.Office.exe

If the AO tabs (analysis) are missing, run executable:

      C:\program files\SAP BusinessObjects\Office AddIn\BiOfficeLauncher.exe

Once you run it once, it will start coming in "automagically" when you start Excel.
