Apps usage report for SAP Fiori launchpad (Monitoring SAP Fiori applications)
There is currently no way in SAP standard to report usage of SAP Fiori applications (see SAP notes below) meaning, users can’t run the report and have the list of most popular SAP Fiori applications. This is something many people have been looking for since the beginning of the SAP Fiori offering. So we (at Nype) have prepared the solution based on the SAP Fiori launchpad plugin and the catalog of all the apps in the scope, so you have a clear view of all started application details their link to SAP Fiori library id. The report runs in the central system (you can choose SAP Solution Manager for that) that collects data separately for each of your systems in your system landscape.
Here is how the report looks:
You can install the “Apps usage report for SAP Fiori launchpad” by downloading the transport from GitHub:
http://get.fioritracker.org/
and following those two install guides:
https://help.fioritracker.org/1909SPS06/#/installation/basis-steps
https://help.fioritracker.org/1909SPS06/#/installation/plugin
The report was priceless during the implementation when testing. It was also a huge help when deciding on the priority of adjusting the apps after the upgrade. As well as deciding on the business impact when users reported issues with specific apps. We also called it to detect scope creep – this is especially important when the number of custom and extended apps grew, and the project was not tracking who is responsible for maintaining new apps.
SAP notes on usage reports in SAP standard:
- 2586237 – Metrics about SAP Fiori Launchpad
- 2444406 – Google Analytics Integration with SAP Fiori
- 2506498 – Monitoring SAP Fiori Application Usage
- 2469965 – Tracking usage of mobile applications with SAP Fiori
The report is free and will stay free. We develop and share it for exposure only.

Can you please help to fix the links..
The links are fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Is this only for S4 or will it work on ECC 6.0 EHP 7 also>>>
The minimal requirement is the presence of SAP Gateway.

Can this be used with S/4HANA Public Cloud?
Hi, Not yet. We are preparing for SAP Cloud version and are open to anyone who would like to help to test it on its installation. br Greg
we use function module SWNC_COLLECTOR_GET_AGGREGATES on our S4 system, this has an output table called FE, which seems to have all the info we need.
Thanks for the comment. The main challenge we wanted to tackle was apps identification. How are the apps identified in your case? Would you mind sharing your sample report?
we use data services to do a daily extract of the FM results into our data warehouse then created a Lumira dashboard to look at user counts. some of the app names are fairly straight forward, but some required some testing to determine what app they were.
Lumira Dashboard
Thanks. Our report users usually cover 1000 or more SAP Fiori launchpad enabled apps of different types. The set includes custom and SAP Fiori standard exented apps. This is why we did not consider investigating and extracting relevant records from standard transaction ST03 records manually. Also, we wanted to record the apps that are launched but not recorded as part of the scope (In Fiori Tracker called ”To-be”).
Anyway, if this approach would work at scale, it would be great to use a standard source. How many app-specific rules do you need to keep? What is the most complex and simplest rule you use?
That tipp is gold 🙂 Thansk a lot
Greg Malewski The website for Fiori Tracker now mentions that this is a commercial product and not free anymore.
Hi Joel, Yes, that is correct. The release 1909 described in this blog still is and will remain free, but the one we just released (2020) is paid. br Greg
Can you please let me know how to get the source code for this plug-in? The source zip file contains only a readme file.
You will find the plugin transports in the file named 1909SPS08.zip shared at https://github.com/fioritracker/installation/releases/tag/1909SPS08
Please drop me an email at gm@nypesap.com I will connect you with the Fiori Tracker team on Slack to assist with all installation questions you might have.
Will release 1909 work for S/41709 FPS01? Thanks for all the information. It is very helpful!
Yes, the minimal requirement is the presence of SAP Gateway.

Hi Greg,
Need your advice if this app able to track usage untill the user level?
Brgds
Hi,
Yes, you get the list from the application point of view, and you can extract the report that shows all apps for the user.
Regards
Greg
Thanks Gred for your respond, another things is there any where we can view in the log if the user view the apps using their mobile phone ?
As long as the app is started from SAP Fiori launchpad the Fiori Apps' Usage report will capture it.

Greg
HI Greg,
We are currently having S4 HANA 2020 FPS2020 SP02 system in our landscape and we are not using separate gateway system for fiori, we are using embedded fiori in S4 HANA. Now my question is instead of using Solman as central system for Fiori tracker can we install the fiori tracker transports in the S4 HANA system and perform all the BASIS steps of central and managed in S4 HANA system and access fiori tracker directly from fiori launchpad configured in S4 HANA system
Regards,
Phani
Hi Phani,
Yes, you can install Fiori Apps' Usage Report in the S/4HANA system. Both central and managed components will work on one system. In fact, this setup is the most popular among the Fior Apps' Usage users.
Fiori Apps' Usage Report works with any SAP Gateway including the SAP Gateway in embedded installation.

Hi Greg
i would like to ask one question regarding fiori usage app
in 1909SPS06 version export option for app use age is missing when have installed components,
can you please let us know what could be the issue ?
Hi Shashaka,
Export is not available in release 1909SPS06.
Best regards
Greg
Hi Greg,
Our gateway is on 7.4 with SAP_UI 750 SP11 . Can we still use this report ?
Thanks,
Dharm
Hi Dharm,
Fiori App Usage Report needs at least SAP NetWeaver version 7.52, so you would need to upgrade before using it.
Best regards
Greg
Hi Greg, is that still the latest best option for Fiori app usage/ Fiori Launchpad usage - or are there any standard nice standard analytics apps available?
And my second question is - if user launch apps via a link directly, not going from the launchpad - is this usage also captured?
Thanks in advance
Brigitte
Hi Brigitte-Anna,
Yes. It still is the best option to monitor SAP Fiori usage.
As for the second question: It depends on how the link is constructed. If it uses a semantic object and action, it still uses the SAP Fiori launchpad services and gets recorded. Can you show me an example of a "direct link" you have in mind?
Best regards
Greg
Hi Greg, thanks for your confirmation. Can you please check out the notes in your blog, as I got message about notes being removed. Thank you!
