SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2002 Document Type Enhancement and Impact on Reversal Document type

Hello everyone,

Starting SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2002, all cloud customers will get the predelivered document types without reversal document types assigned, as such reversals will be posted by default with original document types and within the same number ranges of the original documents. Reasons:

· Different regulatory requirements in different countries regarding the reverse document types and corresponding number range assignments

· Different audit practices for reversal document handling

· Inconsistent document splitting rules impacting document splitting

Document Type Enhancement – Impact to Customers

The document type enhancement is a default upgrade to all cloud customers (existing and new ) in CE 2002 release automatically.

· For new customers, NO ACTION to be taken by customer

· For existing customers, the changes will be deployed in all existing cloud customers’ systems resulting in sudden change of reversal document type configuration. Two options to customers:

· Agree with Document Type refinement in CE2002 No action to be taken from customer

· Disagree with Document Type Refinement in CE2002if customer does not agree with the change, immediately after Q system upgrade he should use SSCUI 101522 “Define Document Types” to reset “Reverse Document type” field value.

Impacted Document Type and Number Range Highlights

· If no reverse document type is specified, the reversal document is by default posted with the same document type of the original document and as such within the same number range of the original document

· Below 17 document types will be impacted in CE2002 upgrade as SAP removed predelivered reversal document type assignment, including the document types integrated from logistics and subledgers:

Original Document Type

Document Number range of Original document type

Existing Reversal Document Type assigned (until CE1911)

Document Number range of reversal document type (until CE1911)

New Reversal document type (starting CE2002)

New no. Range for reversal document type (Since CE2002)

Dear All ,

As was previously communicated, SAP had already noticed that some customers did not receive the reversal document type relevant changes as a part of CE1902 upgrade.

We have identified the root cause, however after detailed analysis we think there is no need to provide any fix or correction now. This is because there is already a SSCUI 101522 “Define Document Types” made available to customers and customers can reset “Reverse Document type” field value as per their need. Additionally, those customers who had not received any reversal document type changes in CE2002, there was no real business impact and as such it has been decided not to provide any fix, unless explicitly asked for.

‎@all Too bad notifications are disabled here ...
Please read this blog and decide if you need to do some adjustments in your Q system right after the upgrade 2002 since you might run into problems if this change is ignored.
