How to stay up to date with SAP Cloud Platform

The photo “Trinity College” by Fred Bigio is licensed under CC BY 2.0.

In my book, SAP Cloud Platform is the coolest product SAP has ever brought to market. Since its introduction in 2012, the platform has grown at an incredible pace, and today it is absolutely massive. That is a central part of the value proposition, for sure, but it also makes it challenging to stay on top of the latest developments. In this blog post, I’d like to share some tips on how you can keep up with what’s new in the world of SAP Cloud Platform.

Listen to the podcast

SAP’s monthly SAP Cloud Platform podcast is a great way to stay informed. The show is frequently visited by the people who design and build the platform, and recurring segments cover SAP Cloud Platform news and upcoming events. You can find links to the podcast feed and the individual episodes here.

Check the release notes

The What’s New page is the place to go for information on the latest updates to the core platform and the individual services. There is a lot of content there, but fortunately it can be both filtered and searched. Updates are frequent, so check back regularly.

Monitor the status page

The SAP Cloud Platform status page is the go-to place for information on upgrades and service disruptions. To be notified of incidents, you can subscribe to email updates.

Follow @sapcp on Twitter

Yun Hsuan Lin, Manjunath Baburao and Suzanne Ellis, who run the @sapcp Twitter account, do a great job of curating the flow of platform news and sharing the best bits. If you’re not on Twitter yet, you should really consider signing up. In addition to SAP Cloud Platform news, there is a lot of SAP community activity in general happening on Twitter, which you’ll be able to take part in.

Study the roadmaps

On the SAP Road Maps page you’ll find road map documents for both the core platform and individual SAP Cloud Platform services like API Management and Cloud Integration. Road maps keep you informed about the general direction of the platform and on the planned availability of new features.

Visit the community

You’re already here, so you obviously know about the SAP Community site, but do you also know about the SAP Cloud Platform topic page? The topic page features curated community content, a bunch of links to SAP Cloud Platform resources and lists the latest community blog posts and questions.

That’s it! I hope you found the tips and links useful. Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll be happy to update the blog post.

I really love that photo, by the way. It's the library at Trinity College in Dublin. Just wonderful.

I'm a horrible photographer, so definitely not 😉 It's from Flickr; the attribution is at the bottom of the post.

Missed that. Perhaps it's better suited to put the attribution directly below the picture.

Good point, Gregor. I've moved it to just below the photo.
