Introduction

With 1911, SAP introduces the seamless integration of S/4HANA Cloud with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Here are lists of new capabilities in SAP S/4HANA Cloud:

  • Pre-delivered dashboards (aka Stories)

The dashboards are fully embedded into SAP S/4HANA Cloud user experience which, for example, allows for intent-based navigation. In addition, they offer the business user flexibility through the adjustment of filters, prompts or drill states, but also by saving navigation states in variants.

  • State-of-the-art multidimensional reporting using the SAC Data Analyzer tool

Data Analyzer, a ready-to-run service for analytical queries, is integrated into SAP S/4HANA to provide an ad hoc query analysis experience to the end user. With Data Analyzer, you can visualize and report on analytical queries in SAP Analytics Cloud without model creation. Instead the designer uses analytical queries as they are. You can analyze the information instantly.

  • Create own custom dashboards using SAP Analytics Cloud’s rich visualisation capabilities.

  • Create own custom reports using SAP Analytics Cloud’s Data Analyzer Report tool.

In the following blogs, we created the custom Story and Data Analyzer Report.

  1. How to create your own Dashboard or Story

  2. How to create Data Analyzer Report

The next obvious thing, how to transport the artefacts from Q (Quality) to P (Production) systems.

Administrator will able to export and import the artefacts from Q (Quality) to P (Production) systems.

In this blog, I would like to focus on the export and import of the custom dashboard and report.

How to transport a Embedded Story/Dashboard

In the blog, I have created the following artefacts:

  • A story with the title "My First Embedded SAC Story"

    • A package containing the story artefacts published in ACN on the successful save of the story.

  • A tile for the story.

    • A UI variant will automatically generated

  • Tile is published in the catalog "Analytics - KPI Design"

To find the all the related and dependent object of a story, launch the application "Extensibility Inventory".

Search with story title "My First Embedded SAC Story".

Look for the type "Embedded Analytics Cloud Story"

Select the row.

The detail page will show the related and dependent objects of the story.

In the above picture, the dependency is as follows

Catalog > SAC Story > UI Flexibility Variant

As Catalog is the parent object, it will not come in the dependency list.

Note down the artefact ID (YY1_1576821942534_EACS) as described below

Launch the app "Export Software Collection" from FLP.

Create a new software collection "Story - Software Collection" to add all the artefacts.

To add artefacts, click Add Items.

Search with the story title "My First Embedded SAC Story".

It will show the object and dependent objects but not the parent.

Select all the objects and click OK.

Add the parent object, search the object with the ID "YY1_1576821942534_EACS"

On the detail page, all the three artefacts are added.

Check the software collection to make sure all the objects are added.

Use Export button to export the collection.

Once export finished, it will show the status

Now, I will Import the collection in the P (Production) system.

Launch the application "Import Collection" via FLP in P system.

Search for the software collection "Story - Software Collection".

Select the collection to see the artefacts. Click Import to import all the artefacts.

In the last step of Import, It will deploy the story to the SAC tenant associated to the P System.

On the successful import, the tile will be available in the FLP.

Launch the Story via the Tile.

This confirms that all the artefacts are imported successfully.

How to transport a Embedded Data Analyzer Report

In the blog, I have created the following artefacts:

  • Data Analyzer Report with the title “My First Data Analyzer Report

  • tile for the report.

    • A UI variant will automatically generated

  • Tile is published in the catalog “Analytics – KPI Design”

To find the all the related and dependent object of a story, launch the application “Extensibility Inventory”.

Search with story title “My First Data Analyzer Report“.

Look for the type “Data Analyzer

Select the row.

The detail page will show the related and dependent objects of the story.

In the above picture, the dependency is as follows

Catalog > Data Analyzer Report > UI Flexibility Variant

As Catalog is the parent object, it will not come in the dependency list.

Note down the artefact ID (YY1_1577524981499_DACT) as described below:

Launch the app “Export Software Collection” from FLP.

Create a new software collection “Data Analyzer Report – Software Collection” to add all the artefacts.

To add artefacts, click Add Items.

Search with the report title “My First Data Analyzer Report“.

It will show the object and dependent objects but not the parent.

Select all the objects and click OK.

Add the parent object, search the object with the ID “YY1_1577524981499_DACT

On the detail page, all the three artefacts are added.

Check the software collection to make sure all the objects are added.

Use Export button to export the collection.

Once export finished, it will show the status

Now, I will Import the collection in the P (Production) system.

Launch the application “Import Collection” via FLP in P system.

Search for the software collection “Data Analyzer Report – Software Collection”.

Select the collection to see the artefacts. Click Import to import all the artefacts.

On the successful import, the tile will be available in the FLP.

Launch the Data Analyzer Report via the Tile.

This confirms that all the artefacts are imported successfully.

Conclusion

In this post, I showed how to transport a custom SAP Analytics Cloud Story or Data Analyzer Report via S/4HANA Cloud.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Happy holidays.
