SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1911 – Technology Topics – Part 2: Localization, Situation Handling, Extensibility, Intelligent Robotic Process Automation, and Hybrid Cloud ERP

Welcome to the second part of my blog illustrating the latest and greatest technical highlights of SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1911. In this blog, I will cover the following topics:

Localization

Localization of Service Management

The next topic that I would like to focus on is Localization. As you will recall from 1908, we added two new countries and two new languages for best practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud. So all together, we now offer 42 countries and 22 languages.

Now with the 1911 release, we heavily invested into the localization of service management and are proud to deliver the service management localization for 36 out of the 42 countries. This means, that all countries except for Brasil, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, and Russia are already covered with this release.

Situation Handling

Also with Situation Handling, there is good news to spread, as we cover five additional use cases with SAP S/4HANA 1911. In order to use Situation Handling in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, scope item 31N has to be activated and the respective situation templates have to be configured in the ‘Situation Handling’ app. The huge benefit of situation handling is that it brings urgent matters to the attention of users who can react immediately to the notifications they receive. This not only speeds up the handling of critical situations in your company but also supports the optimization of your business processes.

Profitability and Cost Analysis – Date Difference Warning for FI Flows

Thanks to situation handling for the Cash Flow Analyzer app, cash managers or cash management specialists are informed when the system detects an FI cash flow for which the difference between the posting date and the value date does not meet the defined condition. The relevant scope item is J78 (Advanced Cash Operations).

Cash and Liquidity Management – Predictive Accounting Notification Success Rate

The Predictive Accounting – Predictive Quality app allows sales accountants to monitor and analyze the quality of the predicted revenues, cost of sales, margins, and sales deductions in predictive accounting. Instead of regularly checking the app, users can receive notifications when the ration of predictive accounting simulations that have not been completed successful are below a certain threshold. The relevant scope item is 2FD (Accounting for Incoming Sales Orders).

Sales Monitoring and Analytics & Sales Quotation Management: Sales Quotation Is Close to Expiring

With the Sales Quotation app, sales managers can display all relevant key facts of a sales quotation along with its sales quotation items in one place. Thanks to situation handling in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, sales managers are informed about sales quotations which are about to reach the validity end date but still have a low conversion rate. This situation template is now available for the sales quotation object page. When a situation occurs, the users can get an in-app message in the relevant sales quotations. The relevant scope item is BDG (Sales Quotation).

Sourcing and Procurement

Purchase Order Processing – Quantity Deficit in Supplier’s Delivery

In the area of Sourcing and Procurement, situation handling can now be used when it comes to purchase order processing. Purchasers can now be automatically notified when

  • supplier confirmations have not been received for a purchase order item
  • supplier confirmations have been received but a certain quantity of materials out of the total will not be delivered on the scheduled delivery date

This way, purchasers can focus and proactively follow up with those suppliers that have not yet provided a confirmation on the purchase order item or try to find alternative suppliers who can deliver the remaining quantity.

Purchase Order Processing – Pending Supplier Confirmation

Operational purchasers typically go through the list of purchase document items in the ‘Monitor Supplier Confirmations’ app and monitor their confirmation status from the supplier. This situation template enables you to inform your purchasers about missing supplier confirmations automatically. This way they can focus and proactively follow up with those suppliers that have not yet provided a confirmation on the purchase order item.

Extensibility

Regarding in-app extensibility (scope item 1N9), we deliver new functionality with regard to the following apps:

‘Custom Reusable Elements’ app

With this app, you can modularize your custom code and thus structure your custom code according to your requirements. You can use this app to create Custom Libraries and organize your methods as required.This app is specifically designed for custom code reuse and supports your productivity and efficiency. Now, with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1911, you also have the possibility to create tables.

As with all extensibility items, you can check for related tasks in the ‘Extensibility Inventory’ app. Extensibility items that require rework receive tasks which are displayed in the Extensibility Inventory app. This column indicates to which to the following categories a task belongs: Deprecation, Security, Functionality, Performance, Stability, and Error.

‘Custom Business Objects’ app

With this app, you can create custom business objects for segmentation in marketing, and generate UIs and applications based on custom business objects. The fields can be used as table columns on the initial page of a custom application that you create based on a custom business object. The fields that you create for a custom business object can furthermore be used for database tables by marketing professionals for segmentation.
Now, with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1911, you also have the possibility to create customized value helps for custom business object fields with the type ‘Association to Business Object’. Also here, related tasks can be found in the ‘Extensibility Inventory’ app.

 

Intelligent Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1911, we provide an accelerator for product master data integration using SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) to replicate product master from SAP S/4HANA to S/4HANA Cloud.
