SAP HANA High Availability and PP/DS module

Prerequisites.

SAP HANA is an in-memory, column-oriented, relational database management system.

SAP HANA provides a comprehensive Fault and Disaster Recovery solution, and High Availability for Business Continuity

SAP S/4HANA is SAP’s ERP for large enterprises. It is the successor of SAP R/3 and SAP ERP and is optimized for SAP’s in-memory database SAP HANA.

Production Planning/Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) is used to generate procurement proposals to meet the production requirements. This SAP S/4HANA module is also used for defining resource plan and order details. You can also plan for critical products to reduce the lead time and to improve time delivery performance.

The SAP liveCache is a special SAP in-memory and object-oriented database that is used by such
SAP products as SAP S/4HANA PP/DS

The liveCache is integrated into the SAP HANA database using the LCAPPS plug-in

Prerequisites: You want to know more about the behavior of the PP/DS module ( on iveCache) during SAP HANA takeover to stand-by host.

Environment.

1.You have SAP S4/HANA with PP/DS module ( LiveCache LCAPPS plugin installed)
2.You have SAP HANA System Replication for High Availability of your systems. For example: you have primary host A and stand by host B – both in system replication.

Problem.

You have a fail with the host A and manual or automatic take over to the host B.
At glance almost all looks fine and bussiness in your company continue working  …  but at this point (takeover to host B) you are lost your PP/DS module.
/SAPAPO/RRP1 and other PP/DS transactions terminates with error:
Connection failed (RTE:[89006] System call ‘send’ failed, rc=32:Broken pipe {ip:port} (host:port))

Resolution.

Take over for SAP HANA with LCAPPS plugin required following additional manual steps:
  1. Goto to transaction  LC10
  1. For Database Connection Names  -LCA, LDA, LEA, SYSTEMDB  follow to edit Integration options
  1. At the Database Host field provide FQDN name to Host B

  1.  Test connection to Host B
