Introducing SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office Beta!

The update this fall (2019) for SAP Analytics Cloud will also include the next generation of SAP’s Microsoft Office extension: SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office. During the fall we are start our BETA version.

This add-in brings provides an integration of SAP Analytics Cloud with the web-based option as well as the desktop based option of Microsoft Excel. You can now use the full flexibility to further analyse your native SAP Analytics Cloud models in combination with Microsoft Office Excel 365.

SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office provides customers a brand-new Microsoft Office experience and offers tight integration with SAP Analytics Cloud, giving our customers the freedom to slice and dice information from SAP Analytics Cloud models in any Microsoft Office version.

The new add-in is accessible directly from the Microsoft Store as an application, and it is suited for all SAP Analytics Cloud customers looking for agility and flexibility in regards to the deployment, as it does not require any setup or installation. It is also ready for multi-device/platform usage. SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office is supported on any Windows or Apple device.

Pivot your data, select members, expand hierarchies


In the beta version, you can use the data in the web-based browser version of Microsoft Excel, using pivot data experience, filtering, navigating the data in the cross tab, select members, and expand hierarchies with latest updated data stored in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Some important pre-requisites to consider:

  • All your models in SAP Analytics Cloud should be based on acquired data for the beta phase.
  • SAP Analytics Cloud will need to be on a Cloud Foundry deployment
  • Please make sure that you do have access to the Microsoft Store and are able to download Add-Ins.
  • You should also have a Microsoft Office 365 license


When applying for the beta phase, please share with us the following details:

  • Which operating system will be used during the beta phase (Windows, Mac) ?
  • Which type of models (BI, Planning) are you planning to use ?
  • Are you in a quarterly release cycle or are you on a Fast Track deployment ?

      Does SAP have any plans to extend this to BW or BW4HANA on premise as well ?

      Please don't tell me that this is going to be initially only for acquired data models? we really need this type of top features to be ready from the get go on live connections as well, BW and HANA...

      Hi Pedro,

      The Beta scope is limited to acquired models only. Please be aware that there will be a release of Analysis for Office 2.8 enabling live connectivity this week (29th of Nov.).

      Are there any plans to allow Planning (i.e. data input) into SAC models using the Excel Addin?
