Building Extensions for SAP S/4HANA Cloud using APIs

Hi,

Creation of cloud-first applications to extend core LoB solutions is a hot topic right now.

If you attended TechEd 2019 or at least managed to catch the Vegas keynote online you’ll have heard all about it and seen the live demo with Rui Nogueira. If not you can watch the keynote demo replay and get more context here.

So having seen what’s possible your next step would be to try this out “hands-on” for yourself, right?

However you might be wondering where to start and exactly which technology components get used where and exactly how to fit them all together?

We’ve just published a new tutorial series covering a simple end-to-end extension scenario which you can access here: Building Extensions for the Intelligent Enterprise on SAP Cloud Platform Playlist

The scenario involves the extension app picking up whenever a sales order is changed in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, accessing the details and persisting them in HANA for further processing.

Tutorials cover everything from getting started to deploying the finished extension application.

Components used include API Business Hub, SAP Cloud Platform, HANA service, extension factory, enterprise messaging, cloud SDK, and the cloud application programming model (CAP).

So whether you’ve already got access and want to get going or you’re simply interested in seeing exactly how to get started hopefully these videos will prove useful.

You can access the tutorials directly as follows:

Code snippets used in the video tutorials are posted to GitHub: XF

If you’re new to SAP Cloud Platform itself then you might also want to check out our onboarding video tutorial series which should hopefully get you up to speed pretty quickly.

Good luck in creating your own extension applications in SAP Cloud Platform and let us know your feedback in the comments section below!
