The Power of SAP S/4HANA #2 – Resolve Sales Order Fulfillment Issues

Sales offices are always under pressure to execute sales orders correctly and to ensure that the products and services are being delivered to the customers on time. This becomes more challenging when the sales offices are flooded with an increasing sales order volume, resulting in losing the transparency of the overall sales order fulfillment status and thus not being able to resolve order issues quickly.

SAP S/4HANA helps sales offices to address this business challenge. The Sales Order Fulfillment Issues – Analyze and Resolve App combines business analytics and business operations into one dashboard. And this is how it works:

By opening the dashboard, the salesclerk can choose from 40+ relevant filters in order to define the dataset, which he wants to analyze. After clicking the “Go” button, the chart in the middle and the worklist below are updated, applying the data filters.

By selecting the chart type, choosing the dimensions/measures, or by deep diving into details, the visualization is personalized easily by the salesclerk. Whereas in traditional ERP systems, IT would need days or weeks for the redesign and publishing to the business users.

The salesclerk has a summary of the sales order issue items in the worklist. The worklist and the chart interact with each other, which means, by selecting an issue category in the chart, the list will only present the selected type of issues. A hyperlink to the sales document and customer master data makes it easier to understand the order of the relevant information. He can also define the worklist according to the business priority, for example, by sorting or filtering the business objects presented in the table columns.

The salesclerk can now directly work on an issue in the Track Sales Order Details App by clicking the blue arrow (the last column in the table). The order fulfillment status is nicely presented in the table on the left and mirrored in the document flow on the right.

By clicking on the issue item on the left table, the document flow is replaced by the item details screen, in which the salesclerk can resolve the issue directly or by collaborating with the responsible business department, depending on the responsibility definition. The SAP S/4HANA Fiori role concept ensures that only the data in his responsibility are displayed and proceeded.

  • Thank you for the great information.  My company used ECC6 for 20 years and then we moved to S4Hana 1511.  In ECC6 we used SIS greatly adding custom formulas, fields and logic for the requirements and formulas.  It worked GREAT!!!!  In S4Hana, we were built a very poorly designed BW for this.  I still wonder what alternative do we have now that we are upgrading to 1909.
