After a whirlwind 16 days, all I can say is WOW! With the North American and European SAP TechEd events in the rear view, and a merciful couple of weeks before the always incredible Bangalore event, we have the opportunity to reflect on everything that happed thus far. Biggest shocker: TechEd North America is moving to Austin, Texas for 2020. Yeehaw!

To begin, let’s recap the SAP Analytics highlights from Juergen Mueller’s keynotes in Las Vegas and Barcelona. We heard that with the upcoming release of SAP S/4 HANA Cloud, every installation will include an embedded SAP Analytics Cloud tenant and the embedded version of SAP Analytics Cloud at no additional cost to customers. This is definitely not the only line of business solution (hi SuccessFactors!) that will be getting enhanced with SAP Analytics Cloud going forward as part of the larger SAP Business Technology Platform strategy. Juergen also officially announced SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.3 which provides a tighter integration between the on-prem software and SAP Analytics Cloud. Anyone interested in the upcoming beta program (coming December 2019) should email the team at SAPBI43Beta@sap.com for more information. If you’re interested in all 39 pages of announcements, check out the SAP TechEd News Guide 2019.

With the plethora of sessions that were available in both Barcelona and Las Vegas, it was impossible to attend every lecture, hands-on lab, or strategy talk that piqued your interest. Luckily a number of sessions were recorded and are available for replay including Iver van de Zand’s lecture on the latest strategy, vision, and innovations from SAP Analytics. Also not to be missed is Ivo Bauermann’s explanation of SAP HANA Cloud Services, Richard Mooney sharing how augmented analytics can transform your decision making, and Matthias Kraemer illuminating the concept of collaborative enterprise planning. You probably weren’t invited to this Gerrit Kazmaier talk that was delivered to analysts in Barcelona but don’t worry, I’ve got your back.

These recordings offer just the tip of the iceberg for analytics information from SAP TechEd so check out the replay site for yourself and explore the SAP Analytics social media feeds (Twitter and LinkedIn especially) for more expert content. And more JM content:

Las Vegas Day 1 Las Vegas Day 2  Barcelona Day 1

We all know the show floor is where the real magic happens and over the two weeks we had conversations with hundreds of customers, partners, analysts, press (Ola Murat!), and SAP colleagues ranging from how people are, or want to be, using analytics to best practices for an on-prem/cloud hybrid system to the hottest spot for tapas. From BI to predictive to planning, there was something for everyone at the Analytics pod. I did get the chance to steal away and try some of the other showcases with my favourite being the SAP HANA BestRun Bikes! As a special treat, tammy.powlas3 brought around the SAP Mentors for an amazing afternoon of discussion. If you haven’t engaged with the SAP Mentor community before, I highly encourage you to do so.

If you haven’t had your fill of SAP Analytics and are hungry for more, join our #askSAP Analytics Community Call on Tuesday, October 29 for your opportunity to engage with experts on the SAP Analytics Product Management team. The discussion will focus on the Statement of Direction for SAP Analytics, SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.3, and the extended augmented analytics and design capabilities in SAP Analytics Cloud. Tell Steve that JM sent you.
