Recognizing members who engage in our community in ways other than writing (Part 2)

This blog post repeats the text of Recognizing members who engage in our community in ways other than writing (Part 1), but contains the continuation of the list of member names.

You provide value. Yes, you.

Sometimes it may seem like we focus just on those members of our community who post content like blogs, or who answer questions. They get a lot of badges, they receive a lot of recognition; they are the ones who qualify for selection as Member of the Month.

And it’s true, we do spend time recognizing those members who contribute their time and knowledge here. Without them, we could have no community. There would be nothing to see here. Literally.

But there is another contingent of members who also contribute in a different way than posting. It’s those of you who consume what’s posted and provide your feedback by liking or commenting or voting on those posts. Without the feedback that you provide, there would be little incentive for contributing members to contribute.

This blog post, and the badge that it discusses, are for you, the “engagers” in our community. I’m referring to the Random Day Surprise badge, which we award sporadically as a fun way to recognize every member who participates in our community on a particular day that is kept secret until that day. This badge is for more members than just the ones who post.

Most recently, we awarded Random Day Surprise on September 19, International Talk Like a Pirate Day. If you participated in our community on that day, you earned this cool badge (designed by our very own caroleigh.deneen ):
