Cannot Install SSMS because of Microsoft .Net Framework is not Installed

In the process of installing SQL Server Management Studio – SSMS in the Windows Server 2012 R2 we cannot move forward with the installation because of the Microsoft .Net Framework is not installed in the server, getting this error,

According to this message, we should go to the mentioned address if the OS is WS 2008

If Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 can be activated from Server Manager.

Download the Microsoft .Net Framework and set up to the server,

But after downloading it and start the installation wizard we’re getting this error message, which says: Windows Server roles and features cannot be automatically installed or uninstalled via the Windows Features Control Panel.

It’s okay, let’s go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, and from their we can see that we don’t have the Microsoft .Net Framework installed there!

To solve this issue, we should go to the Server Manager from inside Windows Server > Manage > Add Roles and Features

Start from ‘Before You Begin’ and press Next

Then from the Installation Type > Role-based or feature-based installation > Next

In the Server Selection section > Select a server from the server pool > chose your server machine > Press Next

Within the Server Roles section > File and Storage Services > Next

Within the Features section > select the .Net Framework 3.5 > Next

In the confirmation step > Install

The installation is progressing!

Now after the .Net Framework being installed, we can continue the SSMS installation!

Hope this helps, KENAN JADDENE
