  • Public Sector - Funds Management (NEW Content Component): Budget and expenditure reporting sourced from PSM Funds Management SAP Suite & SAP S/4HANA on-premise

What is SAP BW/4HANA Content?

For those who do not know yet, SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On provides standard data models for SAP BW/4HANA that are intended as a foundation for designing, modeling, and building your EDW, and while often adapted to customer needs, they provide a jump start that facilitates faster and more consistent delivery of SAP BW/4HANA projects.

As of today, the most used components in SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA on-premise are covered by the SAP BW/4HANA Content. In addition, standard content is provided for the first application components based on data structures in S/4HANA Cloud edition and SAP SuccessFactors.

The latest support package SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On 1.0 SP12 is suitable for all SAP BW/4HANA 1.0 systems (software component DW4CORE 100) with support package 07 or above.

Sales and Distribution (ENHANCED Content Component): CDS-View based extraction of sales documents from SAP S/4HANA Cloud system

With the previous support package, the first content model was delivered for SAP S/4HANA Cloud utilizing CDS-View based extraction for billing documents in Sales & Distribution.

This content component was now enhanced, and an additional standard model is made available based on the ABAP CDS view for sales document items and includes a DataSource, InfoSource, DataStore Object, CompositeProvider, and a sample analytical query.

Possible analyzing scenarios are monitoring of incoming order volumes, quantities and costs. To support this kind of analysis, a rich set of restricted and calculated key figures are included in the standard content.

This content shall be also available with SAP BW/4HANA Content 2.0 SP02, which is planned to be shipped in November 2019.

Public Sector - Funds Management (NEW Content Component): Budget and expenditure reporting based on PSM Funds Management (SAP Suite & SAP S/4HANA on-premise)

Brand new is business content in SAP BW/4HANA for the public sector component PSM-Funds Management (PSM-FM).

The delivered standard DataFlow is based on data extract of expenditure data (commitment line items, FI line items, controlling line items) and budget data from the Budget Control System in Funds Management (budget line items, budget entry documents, availability control (AVC) and Revenues Increasing the budget (RIB)).

A CompositeProvider is delivered containing a rich set of characteristics, restricted and calculated key figures based on the various part providers.

Possible analyzing scenarios are monitoring of commitment, actuals and budget data in Funds Management, e.g. comparison of consumed amounts against consumable budget or revenues increasing the budget analysis.

Beside sample queries for 'Available Budget' and 'Revenues Increasing the Budget', a reconciliation query is provided that can be used to gain an overview of the data across the different sources of information in funds management.

This content shall be also available with SAP BW/4HANA Content 2.0 SP02, which is planned to be shipped in November 2019.

Public Sector - InfoObjects for Grants Management and Grantor Management

All InfoObjects previously available in the BI Content AddOn for SAP BW are now also included in SAP BW/4HANA Content, including the BW transformation for attributes, texts and hierarchies based on the corresponding DataSources (ODP-SAPI).

This content shall be also available with SAP BW/4HANA Content 2.0 SP02, which is planned to be shipped in November 2019.

Additional BW transformations for external hierarchies based on DataSources (ODP-SAPI) sourced from SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA on-premise

Some additional BW transformations to load external hierarchies from a SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA on-premise system are now available in the SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On. Examples are hierarchies for account, business partner, cost element and plant.

This content shall be also available with SAP BW/4HANA Content 2.0 SP02, which is planned to be shipped in November 2019.

One more goodie...

Based on feedback that we received from you, we produced an overview list of all >1.000 metrics (key figures, restricted key figures and calculated key figures) and analytical queries per CompositeProvider that are available as part of the business content. This list can be accessed and downloaded under 'Attachment' in SAP Note 2785514 - FAQ: SAP BW/4HANA Content (BW4CONT & BW4CONTB).

And one further (technical) Hint: We got some support incidents lately, asking why the so-called source system-dependent BW objects like DataSources and inbound-BW Transformations are not collected by the Business Content Installer (aka RSORBCT). Simple reason for this: After connecting the ODP-SAPI source system, the step to write the so-called Content versions for the source system was skipped. If you find yourself in this situation, right click on the source system in SAP GUI RSA1 and choose Activate. If you see the popup shown below, happily say "Now" - it will not take too long. After this step the source system-dependent objects should be collected by the Business Content Installer. Find more information in SAP Note 2433354 - Missing Business Content DataSources or Transformations when using ODP framework.
