Let’s Meet Up in Vegas

I realize the title of this blog — sorry, I meant blog post — might open itself up to the worst type of misinterpretation (particularly when talking about Las Vegas), so let me start off with a big ol’ clarification…

As Audrey Stevenson published on Tuesday, the Community Lounge (part of the Developer Garage on the SAP TechEd Las Vegas show floor) will host “unconferences” next week. I won’t get into details describing what unconferences are — that’s why I linked to Audrey’s post — but the gist is this: They’re informal meetups that any attendee can schedule in order to discuss a topic of his or her choosing with other attendees who also find the topic interesting.

And by any attendee, I mean any attendee.

Like yours truly.

Yep, I like the unconference idea so much that I’ve decided to do one of my own during TechEd next week — on Thursday, September 26, at 10:00 a.m. Vegas time, to be precise. In fact, you can see my unconference on the schedule in Audrey’s post.

The title is “Open forum to discuss SAP Community with the head of the community.

I called it that because…I wanted attendees to have an open forum to discuss SAP Community with the head of the community (i.e., me).

OK, not my most creative moment, but you have to admit that at least the unconference title doesn’t leave anything open to misinterpretation.

Anyway…consider this an official invitation to my unconference so we can talk about all things SAP Community at SAP TechEd Las Vegas.

Not free next Thursday at 10:00 a.m.? Not to worry — my team and I will be at the Community Lounge all day Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Come by at your convenience! We’re all looking forward to meeting with our members to discuss SAP Community. We want to hear your feedback, share our perspectives, help you get the most out of your experience, and more.

See you in Vegas. And don’t forget to pack your socks! You’ll need them for bowling…plus we plan to knock them off with all of the cool and educational activities we have lined up.

I think we can improve: Open forum to discuss SAP Community with the head of the community and members of his community team in a relaxed, participatory and unconferenced manner. ?

It would not fit in the title field 😉

A failure of the imagination! We need title fields that can "unfold" when clicked on, perhaps? 😉

Only if the ST transporter sound effect is mandatory on them when they are clicked.

Haha, yes, that would be awesome.

It's been almost 1+ year since I got actively involved in SAP Community. Some of the members looks quite familiar in the community now, but I haven't met them. Really looking forward to meet and interact with SAP Community members in TechEd - Las Vegas. Count me in, will definitely drop by to meet you and other community members.

I love the unconference style! I am sorry I will not be around for this one.
