Susan decides to dig into the detail report to find out the root cause. She clicks on Ad Hoc Reporting button. This starts a sub-ledge report generated with Web Intelligence. Susan would like to customize the weekly report to focus the region/product that she’s interested in. Susan goes into the Design mode which allows her to select the APJ Computers by OEM view. On the top chart, Susan notices that there are several companies have low bookings comparing to billings.
Susan utilizes the sort function to sort the report by Book to Billing ratio. She notices Win Lite 3G from JPSYST has the lowest ratio. She checks with the sales rep and learns that the customer is discontinuing the use of this part in their end-product.
After addressing the previous issue where the Book to Bill Ratio was too low Susan goes back to the BBB dashboard for further analysis. This time Susan checks the Product Category view. She notices Tablets have a relatively high book to billing ratio. Susan clicks on Tablets on the table on right and notices Americas has a high ratio of 1.7. This needs to be further examined.
Susan again clicks on Ad Hoc Reporting button to utilize sub-ledge report. She uses input control which allows her to select report for Americas/Tablets view. Susan notices that Tab Wireless product from customer FutureC has high Bookings but the Billings are 1.
She checks with manufacturing and realizes that this is a new product and production is still a few weeks away. $1 is usually used as a place holder for new products.
Susan returns to the dashboard and changes to her focus to look at the numbers on a quarterly basis. This time she chooses the By Region view. First Susan clicks on Quarterly button next to the bottom chart. It now presents quarterly data instead. Then she clicks on each region in the table and notices actual billing for EMEA is much lower than target billing.
Susan uncovers that the EMEA region for computers is not on target for meeting their Q4 numbers. She is going to investigate which of products are both profitable and have a current backlog. She will use this information to influence the shipments and help the company meet their revenue targets.
Susan again clicks on Ad Hoc Reporting button to utilize Web Intelligence report. She goes into the Design mode which allows her to select report for EMEA/Computers view.
Susan checks on the chart. She observes a column that has a high margin with a large enough backlog. She clicks on it and it is Win Lite 3G from company Resspain that can use her help.
Alternatively, Susan can sort the report by backlog and arrives to the same conclusion.
