Tom Clancy once said it: “Life is about learning; when you stop learning, you die.”

SAP offers a variety of channels and platforms like SAP Community, SAP Help Portal, SAP Learning Hub, SAP Classroom Training and events like SAP TechEd and SAPPHIRE. For online learning, I am a huge fan of openSAP. It is free and the courses are at a very high standard. Here I can learn about SAP innovations (I recently finished the digital transformation track) and connect with other learners.

Therefore I am more than happy and proud that the first Linux course “Introduction to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server” is now available on openSAP.

Why is this important for you? If your company relies on SAP solutions, you need to be aware that the future is Linux. In the next years, 180,000 SAP customers will have to migrate to SAP HANA to stay current.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) for SAP Applications is the most used Linux platform for SAP HANA, SAP NetWeaver, and SAP S/4HANA solutions. Whether you are a system administrator, developer, technical consultant or just interested in the foundations of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), knowing how the underlying operating system works will make you better at your job.

Craig Cole, our SUSE Training Engineer, and Instructional Designer Week will guide you through:

  • Week 1: Overview and Installation of SLES

  • Week 2: SLES Filesystem and Identity

  • Week 3: Software and Network Management

  • Week 4: Storage Administration and Shells

In week 5, you will have a chance to participate in a final exam and gain a record of achievement.

The course is starting from October 15, 2019, 9:00 UTC, so don’t miss the chance to build up your knowledge of this foundational component for most SAP implementations and put yourself on the path to the SUSE certifications SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) and SUSE Certified Engineer (SCE).

Whatever your needs, and whatever your starting place, the SUSE team is ready to help you get the best return for your IT investment and build a stable and secure SAP solution. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions and send us your feedback when you are attending the course.
