What’s New in the SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On 2.0 – SP01
This blog post provides an overview what is additionally delivered as part of SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On 2.0 SP01, released in August 2019.
What is SAP BW/4HANA Content?
For those who do not know, SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On provides standard data models for SAP BW/4HANA that are intended as a foundation for designing, modeling, and building your EDW, and while often adapted to customer needs, they provide a jump start that facilitates faster and more consistent delivery of SAP BW/4HANA projects.
The SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On 2.0 SP01 is the second business content support package provided for SAP BW/4HANA 2.0.
Workforce Management (ENHANCED Content Component): Headcount and employment event reporting based on SAP SuccessFactors – Employee Central
With the previous support package the first standard content for SAP BW/4HANA was provided based on data structures sourced from SAP SuccessFactors.
This standard content was now enhanced and provides a CompositeProvider for Reporting with a sample query to allow various evaluations of headcount KPIs including FTE according to
-
- personal data (such as gender, age and age group),
- organizational data (such as business unit, division, department and cost center)
- employment data (such as employee class, employment type, tenure and tenure range)
together with event information including number of hires and terminations. Additional calculated KPIs combining headcount and event information are included such as retention rate and termination rate.
Good to know:
-
- The source of data for the headcount information are the InfoObjects Employment (User ID) /SFA/EMPL fed by SFSF Employee Central APIs EmpJob and EmpEmployment and the InfoObject Global Person /SFA/PERSON fed by SFSF Employee Central APIs PerPersonal and PerPerson. The connectivity to the OData APIs provided by SAP SuccessFactors to BW/4HANA 2.0 is described in SAP Note 2776343.
- A CompositeProvider is used for extraction purpose and provides data into a BW transformation for headcount calculations. The CompositeProvider splices the time dependent attributes from Employment /SFA/EMPL (e.g. Job, Position, Hire Date) and Global Person /SFA/PERSON (e.g. gender and date of birth) by a temporal join condition.
- The DataStore object that stores the headcount information is configured as ‘Inventory-Enabled’. The persisted key figures in this DataStore objects are value changes and track any attribute changes to the time dependent data stored in InfoObjects /SFA/EMPL Employment (User ID) and /SFA/PERSON Person including changes to the calculated dimensions age (based on birthday) and tenure (based on hire date).
- The headcount and FTE metrics are calculated during query execution by the analytical engine based on the value change key figures, which allows flexible analysis for any point of time or time interval by different aggregation methods including ‘Start of Period Headcount’, ‘End of Period Headcount’ and ‘Average Headcount’.
This content is exclusively shipped for SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 and not available for SAP BW/4HANA 1.0.
Performance Management (NEW Content Component): Employee performance rating analysis based on SAP SuccessFactors – Performance Management
Brand-new in this support package for SAP BW/4HANA Content 2.0 is also standard content that is based on the data structures sourced from SAP SuccessFactors – Performance Management.
Similar to the SAP SuccessFactors content for Employee Central, the data is sourced via OData API (FormHeader).
The provided content model allows analysis of employee performance KPIs such as performance ratings, previous performance ratings and performance improvements e.g. across different time dimensions and organization entities.
This content is exclusively shipped for SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 and not available for SAP BW/4HANA 1.0.
Sales and Distribution (ENHANCED Content Component): CDS-View based extraction of billing documents from SAP S/4HANA Cloud system

The standard content includes a data flow based on the ABAP CDS view for billing document items and includes a DataSource, InfoSource, DataStore Object, CompositeProvider and a sample analytical query.
Possible analyzing scenarios are monitoring of sales volume amount, customer credit memo amount, sales profit margin ratio and track of cancelled invoices.
