Question & Answer
Question | Response |
According to your experience, who should be owning development of embedded analytics, BI development experience teams or ERP development teams?. Thanks | It depends on the tool used; some are owned by the business while others (Core Data Services) would be owned by IT. |
this is clear CDS is IT owned but there are IT development centers with diffierent focus of expertice, ERP (Abap) development teams and BI (BW, SAC, IP, etc.), who should be in charge of Analytical CDS creation in such case?, Thansk and BR | CDS creation is owned by developers |
What learnings/certifications can we take to give us a holistic understanding and the applications for SAP S/4HANA? | Please check the SAP Learning Journeys for S/4HANA at https://help.sap.com/doc/221f8f84afef43d29ad37ef2af0c4adf/HP_2.0/en-US/0d7dd0dc8f464586a187b9b6c27c6b23.html – includes certifications, etc. |
if we have S/4HANA embedded analytics and if we are able to do analytical reporting on top of data in S/4HANA, do we need a separate SAP BW/BI system for Analytics? | Depends on your requirements – you may need BW to combine holistic data. I encourage you to check out the upcoming data warehouse webinars at https://discuss.asug.com/docs/DOC-40413 |
Is there a demo/test environment we can use to learn more about the capabilities of SAP 4/SHANA? (Can combine with my previous question) | Free trial for the cloud is at https://www.sap.com/products/s4hana-erp.html – on premise go to cal.sap.com |
Can you put in the demo URL again? It’s not in the slides attached with this webinar | https://www.sap.com/cmp/oth/crm-s4hana/s4hana-cloud-erp-trial.html |
Thanks! Can you also put in the logon details? | If you register for the S/4HANA trial, you get your own credentials sent to you… |
Is BW4 Hana needed if I use SAP Analytics Cloud? | Yes, this is possible |
Is there a webinar or resources related to best migration approach for moving from ECC to S/4HANA or BW to BWonHANA/BW4HANA ? | We have a webinar coming up on moving to BW/4HANA https://discuss.asug.com/docs/DOC-40413 – for best migration approach, SAP Support has webinars. |
But is BW4hana necessary or is Analytics Cloud enough to cover all problems? | it depends on your business requirements and your EDW business requirements |
looking at slide 12 – is the BW/4HANA mandatory for a proper use of SAP Analytics Cloud ? | no – SAC works with multiple data sources – see the road map at https://www.sap.com/products/roadmaps/finder-all.html#pdf-asset=e4339922-c37c-0010-82c7-eda71af511fa&page=11 |
can we use sap fiori on top of bw4? | that is a question to ask the BW product management team at one of the upcoming webinars https://discuss.asug.com/docs/DOC-40413 |
is there any plan for SAP to deliver ABAP CDS views based Datasources Business Content for S4H on premise? | There are predefined virtual models already available – please see https://blogs.sap.com/2018/12/05/how-to-find-a-predefined-virtual-data-model-in-s4hana/ |
how do I find those queries ? | see https://blogs.sap.com/2018/12/05/how-to-find-a-predefined-virtual-data-model-in-s4hana/ – you can try transaction RSRT |
Can we run S4 Hana with SAP BW 7.5 ? | Yes – see https://blogs.sap.com/2017/01/26/s4-hana-bw-7.5-integration-with-sda-as-data-provisioning/ |
Is there a plan to have SAC embedded into S/4HANA on premise and not just in S/4HANA Cloud? | developing elements on how build, make linkage, easy – right now cloud only…have components should be available for on-premise – |
hi, all! how a I make a SABA CDS View visbl for AP Analytics Cloud? | standard interface |
Are there any scenarios where you recommend to use HANA Calculation Views for operational reporting in S4HANA system? | early question; not able to run same auth concept – some calculations may be enhanced in calc views |
Questions answered by Juergen after the webcast:
Q: What are the performance limitations of SAC while reading live data from S/4HANA ?
I am not aware of such parameters (would hope my colleagues from SAC could answer here). Also they are very much dependent of the technical architecture / setup of the system landscape…
Q: Are the BW logistic cockpit extractors already replaced with CDS views for use with BW/4HANA?
Not yet fully, this is on the compatibility list and still in process.
Q: What is the positioning of SAP Analytics Hub vs. Fiori Launchpad in relation to S4HANA Embedded Analytics?
Both can be used for reports on SAP S/4HANA Data. But SAP Fiori Launchpad is the standard front end for all SAP S/4HANA (and therefore the natural FE for all integrated apps as well) and the SAP Analytics Hub is the central interface for all analytics related Apps (independent of the data source).
Q: can we use ABAP CDS Views for ERP on HANA(SAP NWVersion 7.50)?
Technically yes but there is no content.
Q: “Is there a specific embedded analytics content for SAC? And for what version of S4HANA is it available?”
All versions, it is part of SAP Avtivate (https://rapid.sap.com/bp/BP_S4H_ANA )
Q: We are using Native HANA on current ECC landscape. How is it going to impact us in terms of current SAC and Modeling when we move to S/4 HANA Migration project.
You probably have to redo a lot of the data models and then adapt all of the reports accordingly. This is due to the many data model changes we have done in SAP S/4HANA. The other thing is, what is it you would rather do inside SAP S/4HANA rather than with a separate report if you can? Would the reports look the same given the data changes and modeling capabilities (and performance implications)?
