The APJ CXS Go-to-Market team of SAP Solution Manager conducted the SAP Solution Manager Education Summit (SOLED) 2019 in Ritz Carlton and the event was spread across three days from 11th to 13th June. This event series that started in Bangalore will further continue in South Korea (Seoul, 23 and 24th Oct) and Japan (Tokyo, 30th Oct and 1st Nov).

On Day 1, the welcome note was given by Rajeev Gollapudi and was followed by the keynote from Marc Thier, the Senior Vice President. In his keynote, Marc shared the road map of ALM. He focused on ALM portfolios that include SAP Solution Manager, SAP Focused Solutions and our newly introduced product line called SAP Cloud ALM. He emphasized on how SAP Cloud ALM enables SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation and it has an extensive road map of supporting other SAP products like SAP Success Factors and SAP Concur.

The keynote was followed by sessions from partners. There were representatives from Wipro and Robert Bosch presenting their success stories in ALM space. Wipro showed their innovative DevOps concept and Robert Bosch presented their ALM best practices derived while using SAP Solution Manager.

The second half of the day included detailed break-out sessions, wherein the participants had the option to choose from various sessions offered by experts from the CXS team.

On Day 2 the focus was on the RUN market. It started with a welcome speech by Dinesh Rao, VP SAP followed by the keynote from Wieland Schreiner, SVP SAP. The exciting part was Wieland along with Stefan Lahr gave a demo of the product live on the stage. It received major applause from the audience.

Our partners, Atos and SAP SuccessFactors, presented their best practices of using Focused Run for SAP Solution Manager to manage the high volume of systems. This was followed by the panel discussion moderated by Dinesh Rao and the participants were Syed Yousuff (Robert Bosch), Sanket Kelkar (ATOS), and Stefan Lahr (SAP).

Highlights from the breakout sessions:

  • Experience session (hands-on) was organized in the event using Bring your device concept, where participants had to bring their own laptop.

  • QR code was displayed in every breakout session and the participants had to scan the QR code to participate in the quiz.

  • The evening was filled with exciting programs where INDUS presented the Solution Manager Excellence Awards. The INDUS group received multiple nominations. Mahindra and Mahindra bagged the award. This was followed by dinner and music.

Day 3 started with Marc’s keynote session which was about new opportunities for the ALM Network. This session focused on what’s in store for the partners and customers. Partners are needed to reskill from ALM tools to become ALM process experts and increase development know-how on SAP Cloud Platform (SCP). One of the interesting topics covered in the session was CrowdFarmX. The World’s First Cooperative Farming Platform on Blockchain. This was specifically designed for small farmers who had challenges connecting to the market and multinational companies. With this implementation, they were able to extend functionalities to integrate with IoT and Blockchain, localization to comply with multinational regulations and making them easier access to larger markets. Not to forget, the implementation was done in 10 weeks.

With 275+ participants that include customers and partners like E&Y, Accenture, and HCL, the event was a major success. The feedback received was majorly positive. It was for sure a customer-centric event. Compared to last year, this year the event was bigger, brighter, and more beautiful with much positive gusto.
