Cost Center in Asset History Sheet

Cost Center in Asset History Sheet

Issue / Observation:

When adding “Cost Center” or “WBS Element” to the rows of the Asset History Sheet or the Asset Balances, it is always displayed empty. Profit Center, Segment and other fields are filled correctly.

Background:

The fields “Cost Center” and “WBS Element” are recorded in the P&L on Expense Accounts, but not on Balance Sheet accounts such as Acquisition and Production Costs or Accumulated Depreciation. Key figures shown in the columns of the Asset History Sheet and the Asset Balances are reflecting Balance Sheet values and are selected from Balance Sheet accounts.

Solution:

In order to report key figures of the Asset History Sheet or the Asset Balances app by Cost Center, please use the characteristic “Asset Cost Center” instead. That is how you can use time dependent attributes of the Asset Master as drill down characteristics in Asset Accounting reports.

Good to know:

You can familiarize yourself with using reports in Asset Accounting by looking into the media

Michel Loehden , I do not see options to drill down to the time-dependent master data (from asset cost center or asset profit center) to WBS on any of the reports for versions actual or planned depreciation. What am I missing?

      Hello Mohamed,

thanks a lot for raising your question! Would you please describe the use case in somewhat more detail? What exactly would you like to achieve?

Once the "Asset Cost Center" is used as an additional drill-down dimension in the Asset History Sheet, you can place the cursor into any cell (e.g. "Acquisition, Current Year") and navigate to any reasonable target application.

      Kind regards,

      Michel Loehden

      Hello Michel,

      Thanks for the reply.

The steps you have kindly provided are to go to other applications. However, we would like to see the account assignment objects (WBS and Cost Center) in the asset reports viz. Asset History Sheet, Depreciation List, Asset Transaction. This is needed for planning and forecasting purposes.

Since the objects already exist, we would preferably not like to extend the master data with custom objects (duplicates of WBS and Cost Center) just so that these can added to the standard reports.

      Kind regards,

      Mohamed

      Hello Mohammed,

please take a look into the blog "How to extend the Asset History Sheet with the WBS Element of time-dependent data in SAP S/4HANA Cloud". Since SAP standard will not cover your requirement in the near future, this blog may describe an approach to solve your requirement.

      Kind regards,

      Michel Loehden

      Dear Mohamed,

thanks for raising your question! Would you please explain the use case in some more detail? What exactly do you want to achieve?

Once you call up the Asset History Sheet and drill down by the Asset Cost Center, you can place the cursor to any cell of the report (e.g. Acquisition Current Year for a dedicated Account Determination group and Cost Center) and choose a suitable navigation target ("Navigate to..." -> "Define Link List").

      Kind regards Michel Loehden
