QM Open Note – #1 – UD status and QALS table relation (+QAVE)

QM Open Note

QM Open Note is a blog post series about topics, which can be useful when working with Quality Management.

Overview

Current blog post is about the relation between the status UD (Usage decision has been made) of an inspection lot and table QALS (+QAVE).

In detail

After saving a UD code for an inspection lot – for example via transaction QA11 – the status UD (I0218 – Usage decision has been made) is activated for the inspection lot object. It can be seen in table JEST via transaction SE16 using the object number (QALS-OBJNR) of the inspection lot.

The fact that the usage decision has been made is stored in table QALS also, in field QALS-STAT35. ‘QALS-STAT35 = X’ means that the UD is performed. Additionally, an entry into table QAVE is written with the details of the usage decision.

Known problem & solution

Sometimes the status UD is activated without creating the QAVE entry and setting the flag QALS-STAT35. Following SAP Note provides a correction report for this type of inconsistency:
