Introduction

Since a couple of weeks, the SAP Activate Methodology for SAP S/4HANA Cloud has been updated with a new tag called Identity and Access Management (IAM). This has already been briefly mentioned in the Implementation Roadmap Viewer Update Blog which highlights the latest changes to the implementation roadmap for SAP Activate Methodology for SAP S/4HANA Cloud. In this blog post, we will have a look at the most important changes in detail and highlight the relevant accelerators which will be useful for implementing an authorization concept in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

IAM in SAP Activate Methodology

In general, the SAP Activate Methodology for SAP S/4HANA Cloud gives assistance to the implementation project teams during the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud with a recommended list of deliverables (the “what”) in each phase, a process description in the form of tasks (the “how”), and accelerators (such as templates, examples, guides and web links) in a user friendly format. In this blog post, a six-step approach is described on how to deploy SAP S/4HANA Cloud with SAP Activate.

Tag "Identity and Access Management"

The IAM tag - a separate tag within the SAP Activate Methodology for SAP S/4HANA Cloud - contains a collection of IAM-related deliverables that we need to consider during the SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation project. You can filter for all the deliverables for this tag if you select the tag Identity and Access Management at the bottom left of the SAP Activate Methodology Roadmap Viewer. You can see that 16 items (deliverables and tasks) are currently associated to IAM-related activities.

Task "Create Initial Application - Workplace List"

One of the central tasks within the tag Identity and Access Management is the Creation of the initial Application - Workplace list. The purpose of this task is to create the initial Application - Workplace list, which is a deliverable that is needed during the preparation for the Fit-to-Standard workshops.

In detail, the initial Application - Workplace list will support the participants of the Fit-to-Standard workshop to summarize which applications are in scope of the implementation project by noting it down in the list. For completing the task, you need to complete the following actions:

  1. Collect the Digital Discovery Assessment report.

  2. Review the How-to Create Application-Workplace list accelerator to become enabled on how to download and create the Application-Workplace list.

  3. Create the Application- Workplace list and transfer the results of the Digital Assessment report to the list, selecting the relevant Scope Items.

  4. Filter the relevant Scope Items and applications in the Application - Workplace list and provide this list to the participants in the Fit-to Standard Workshops.

Accelerator "How to Create Application - Workplace List"

Finally, I want to highlight the accelerator "How to Create Application - Workplace List". The purpose of this accelerator is to enable and educate users on how to download the relevant information required for the Application - Workplace list from the SAP Fiori Apps reference library. The accelerator can be found at the bottom of the task description in the section Accelerators.
