SAP Enterprise Data Management – 830% ROI – Oh My!

Yes, you saw that right – SAP achieved a return on investment of 830% with payback in 1.2 months by establishing enterprise data management as an organizational capacity (the ROI increases to 1,180%, if factoring in the saving of SAP leveraging its own technology).  This accomplishment has recently been recognized by Nucleus Research as a winner of the 2019 Technology ROI Awards.

Here’s the full story…

Don’t risk getting left behind.

Digital transformation requires organizations to regulate the lifeblood of their digital landscape.  They need a rigorous system of data management processes for seamless integration and quality control.  And, we see market leaders evolving from the digital era into an even more promising intelligent era as technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), advanced analytics, and blockchain become mainstream.  In the Intelligent Enterprise, data feeds intelligence which in turn feeds process automation, innovation, insight and optimal experiences.

In other words, it is all about the data.

An intelligent enterprise uses their data assets effectively to achieve the desired outcomes faster – and with less risk.  That means providing business users with the right information at the right time within the appropriate context. It is also of utmost importance that business users can trust the information. Data governance plays a key role in ensuring that data sprawl is minimized, and data quality is maintained. This subsequently enables operationalizing the use of data in everyday business processes, driving the efficiency of the entire organization.

SAP knows data.

In fact, 77% of all transactions in the world touch an SAP system.  SAP knows all about how the data drives the business – and ultimately revenue – to efficiently placing and sending order, to effectively managing the workforce, to ensuring repeat customers with a positive customer experience.  So, when SAP embarked upon its own strategic business transformation, SAP recognized the need for enterprise data management as a strategic organizational capability.

And SAP saw results…

The SAP enterprise data management team leveraged SAP technology, including SAP solutions for enterprise information management, SAP HANA and SAP Cloud Platform, to eliminate time consuming, manual processes and automate data quality operations.  Data initiatives were executed more quickly, with the average turnaround time being reduced by two thirds, delivering significant time and resource savings to the organization.  More importantly, the SAP enterprise data management team supported growth across the business, supporting strategic business outcomes to increase marketing and sales productivity, improve business process efficiency and support business transformation.  Ultimately, the enterprise data management capabilities allowed SAP to go-to-market faster, onboarding net new customers quicker and driving increased revenue.

“A great strategy is useless without proper execution, so operational excellence in SAP’s data management practice is absolutely key” says Thomas Ruhl, Head of Data Strategy and Operations at SAP. “This award is a great recognition proving that we are really delivering on our intent to making data work at SAP.”
