On October 25, SAP invited around 100 services and channel partners from the DACH region to its headquarters in Walldorf to showcase current topics and tools related to SAP’s user experience. The event gave valuable insights into SAP’s latest developments, such as SAP Fiori 3, SAP Conversational AI, and rapid SAP Fiori activation.

SAP Cloud Platform for a Superior Digital Experience

The event was kicked off with a presentation by Michael Wintergerst, Head of SAP Cloud Platform Core, who talked about the importance of a superior digital experience, that SAP Cloud Platform wants to provide to customers. SAP Cloud Platform offers a rich set of services, tools, APIs and applications that help customers integrate and extend their solutions, optimize their business processes, and create an engaging digital experience. With the new Digital Workplace service, customers will soon be able to access all their applications and workflows through one single launchpad that can be customized to their needs. It is supposed to support the integration of UX with SAP Fiori, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Experience Management. Needless to say, Digital Workplace will also be available as a mobile app.

Rapid SAP Fiori Activation

The insightful presentation about SAP Cloud Platform was followed by a presentation and live demo on rapid SAP Fiori activation. SAP Fiori for S/4Hana provides innovative user interactions and a single point of entry to access all apps that are tailored to the users’ tasks. Users no longer have to implement apps one by one; they can simply select business roles and adjust the SAP Fiori launchpad content as well as the business roles in the SAP Fiori launchpad content manager. This new approach makes the implementation of standard SAP Fiori apps faster and more effortless.

To really deep-dive into UX topics, the event offered a variety of breakout sessions that gave the SAP partners the opportunity to further explore topics of their choice ranging from a session on how intelligent chatbots can optimize user experience, the evolution of SAPUI5, to full-stack mobile app development.

Adidas Customer Experience with SAP Fiori

Before the event was closed off with a Q&A session, Dominik Meier, Director of Platform Engineering at adidas went on stage to talk about their experience with SAP Fiori and the SAP Fiori Makers, which he described as “the best thing that has ever happened” to him. When adidas first wanted to implement SAP Fiori in 2014, they came to the conclusion that SAP Fiori was nice to have but not ready for them. What really changed the perception of SAP Fiori was the first SAP Fiori Makers boot camp. Within 3,5 days, adidas and SAP managed to design an SAP Fiori sales order app that reduced the time sales representatives needed to get customers’ shipping information from 11 minutes to 3 clicks. The adoption rate of SAP Fiori at adidas has grown from 500 users in 2018 to more than 5,500 happy users.
