On Building Great Experiences for Our Users
Given our history – and the ongoing feedback from our users — this is not a surprising request, nor is it one we take lightly. Providing the best possible user experience is vital to delivering on our overall strategy. And my team and I are 100% committed to making it happen.
The SAP Fiori user experience is constantly evolving to support our customers in their business transformation. But as we know, the path to success is not always a straight line. Designing a front end that is intuitive and simple to use, but which meets the complex requirements of our customers is at the heart of the SAP User Experience team’s mission. We want to make things easier for our users, freeing up their time to focus on what’s really important – running their business and serving their customers. At the same time, we want organizations to implement and scale the SAP user experience – in a simpler, faster way.
These are not incompatible goals, but let’s be honest — they are not without their obstacles. If the user experience is great, but the implementation is too complex, that’s an issue. The same is true when the activation is quick, but the application doesn’t meet the users’ business needs. These are the challenges our team wants to tackle going forward. And by listening closely to your input and honest feedback, we will.
At this year’s SAP TechEd, I will share details on the first product release for SAP Fiori 3 available with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1908. The newest SAP Fiori design system addresses the needs our customers have told us are critical for their business transformation: featuring an integrated product suite, a seamless user experience (including for mobile), and an easier, faster implementation journey. We hope you’ll agree that SAP Fiori 3 represents an essential step in achieving a user experience that is consistent, intelligent, and integrated across the entire SAP product portfolio. Additionally, I’m also excited to share further initiatives for simplifying the implementation of the SAP Fiori user experience, including:
- SAP Fiori rapid activation, an out-of-the-box approach to activate SAP Fiori for business roles delivered as templates with SAP S/4HANA.
- The latest developments for SAP Fiori elements, the library of common page types based on SAPUI5 that allows developers to build an end-to-end app quickly and with minimal coding effort.
In my role as Head of SAP User Experience, I am passionate about meeting (and exceeding) the needs of our customers and users…And I am humbled to work alongside a great team of people who understand the importance of problem-solving: who believe in human-centered design; who continuously push for user research, who maintain a close relationship with our customers and end users; and who are fully committed to transforming the product experience of our customers into something that we can all be proud of!
If you’re planning to visit SAP TechEd this year, I’d like to personally invite you to join our sessions to learn more about our user experience strategy and roadmap. My team and I welcome the opportunity to share insights and exchange ideas with you.
