How to check/enable Business Event Handling in SAP Marketing Cloud
This blog explains how a customer is able to check the current status of Business Event Handling and how to activate the Business Event Handling in SAP Marketing Cloud.
With 1811 SAP Marketing Cloud supports Business Event feature. With a standardized event mechanism, you can provision the event catalog for business objects across the SAP Marketing Cloud application. It enables to consume business events published by SAP Marketing Cloud. With the event activation management, you can propagate only subscribed events to the messaging infrastructure.
The main use case is to use the business events with our side-by-side extension possibility, meaning integration with SAP Extension Factory. It is a powerful way of extending SAP Marketing Cloud without impacting the Marketing core.
How to check the status of Business Event Handling
- Navigate to the “Implementation Cockpit” and click on the ”Manage Your Solution” tile.
- Navigate to the solution scope with click on the “View Solution Scope”.
- In the “Define Your Scope” application, you have to search for the ID XX_1NN and check if the status is active.
How to activate the Scope Item Business Event Handling
If the status is active, you are able to use Business Events in general. In case the status is inactive, you have to raise a ticket on component XX-S4C.OPR-SRV with the ask to activate the scope item “XX_1NN” Business Event Handling.
When the Business Event Handling has been activated, you can proceed with establishing a connection to SAP Cloud Platform Enterprise Messaging.

Thanks for the interesting blog Joerg,
However it's indicated that an additional licence is required to have this activated?:
The activation of this scope item requires an additional SAP Cloud Platform Enterprise Messaging license to consume the business events.
Hi,
you are right. If you use Enterprise Messaging on SAP Cloud Platform, an additional license is necessary.
But we have also a direct integration into SAP Extension Factory where you don't need an additional license. The license of SAP Extension Factory is included into SAP Marketing Cloud already. So it really depends on your use cases.

Hi Joerg,
Is there any documentation for connecting marketing cloud to extension factory ? Can you share if you have any pointers.
Best, Ajit
Hi Ajit,
thanks for you interest. the documentation can be found in the extension factory itself.
You will find a SAP Marketing Cloud connector in the xf and there you will find the documentation.
I link to the documentation is difficult, because I don't know your instance hostname.
Best regards,
Joerg
