Standard Content for SuccessFactors now available for SAP BW/4HANA 2.0

The very first content release for SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 (BW4CONT200 SP00) is now available for installation and delivers content for the most used content components as shown below.

The most of these content components are sourced from SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA applications and were already available with SAP BW/4HANA Content 1.0.

But there is one new content area that was anticipated by many customers and now exclusively shipped for SAP BW/4HANA 2.0: standard content that is based on data structures sourced from the core SAP SuccessFactors component Employee Central.

What is included in the first SuccessFactors Workforce Management content?

InfoObjects are provided to store the time dependent data for Person, for JobCode, for Position and for the Employment History per Employee. The information stored in these InfoObjects can be used for master data reporting. Potential use cases are the analysis of the current and historic workforce by different dimensions such as gender, country, business unit, etc., the analysis of hires and terminations or reporting on vacant positions across the entire company.

You can access the full online documentation of the content objects in the SAP BW/4HANA Content 2.0 Documentation.

How do I get the data from SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central into SAP BW/4HANA 2.0?

For the data integration, we would recommend to use the OData API adapter provided by SAP HANA Smart Data Integration that is seamless integrated with the SAP HANA DataSource in SAP BW/4HANA 2.0. You can find more information about how to setup the connectivity in SAP Note 2776343 – Connectivity to SuccessFactors for SAP BW/4HANA Content.

      Hi there

      Great article.

Is there any support for BW4HANA 1.0 on this?

Our DB is on 2.0 but our App server is still running 1.0 SP8. Do we have to upgrade this to take advantage of the integration?

      Thanks

      Garth

      Hi Garth,

      thanks for your question!

To take advantage of the seemless integration between SAP BW/4HANA using the OData APIs in SuccessFactors Employee Central via HANA Smart Data Integration, yes you would need BW/4HANA 2.0.

One of the missing functionality in SAP BW/4HANA 1.0 is the ability to call the SuccessFactors OData APIs with the so called provisioning parameters to fetch not only the current records but also the historical data. That is needed especially for EmpJob – without it you would get only the current valid record of an employee (SAP Note 2578195).

There are some workarounds though which are either costly or which at least are not so nice. For example and depending on your HANA version (SAP Note 2584924) you could call the OData API via SDI with the provisioning parameters fromDate and toDate and persist the data in a HANA table. From there you can load it into BW/4HANA via HANA DataSource. For this option you would need a HANA Enterprise license. Another alternative would be to use SAP DataHub – or you could do the load via file load using the SuccessFactors Integration Center.

That’s at least what I am aware of, maybe the community has more input…

      All the best,

      Andreas

if there is a challenge to get Hands on the BW/4 2.0, there is a CAL Version for BW/4 2.0 - SAP BW/4 2.0 – CAL for it …

Then you will have access to the mentioned BW/4 Content ...

      Best Regards Roland

We have BW 7.5  BW-on-HANA (HANA 1.0) installed.  We are upgrading to HANA 2.0 in late Summer 2020.  We are replacing ERP HRPR Module with SuccessFactors Employee Central Module.  Can we use the "Business Content" in the Module SF HCM Workforce Management with BW 7.5 BW-on HANA (HANA 2.0) -or- is the SF HCM Workforce Management only available to BW/4HANA 2.0?

      Thanks for the info,

      Scott

      Hi Scott,

thanks for your interest in the Business Content for SuccessFactors.

Unfortunately, the Business Content is only available with SAP BW/4HANA Content Add-On 2.0 and cannot be downported as it uses new capabilites that are only available with SAP BW/4HANA 2.0.

      Best regards,

      Andreas

Hi Andreas / Roland, We are upgrading from BW 7.30 SP8 to BW On HANA 7.5 SP16 and installed the BW/4HANA Starter add on. our HDB is 2.00.040.00.1553. So, is it possible to leverage the Standard Content for SuccessFactors available for SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 using OData APIs in SuccessFactors Employee Central via HANA Smart Data Integration? Thanks.

      Regards,
      Sekar

      Hi Sekar,

the SuccessFactors content is only shipped with SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 Content Add-on (BW4CONT200). This Add-on can be installed in a "real" SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 system.

On a BW 7.50 system you only can install the "classic" BI_CONT Add-on (BICONT 757). Means the starter add-on for BW/4HANA does not help here.

Therefore it is only possible to use the content after the system was migrated to SAP BW/4HANA 2.0.

      Best regards,

      Andreas

      Hi,

Are there any plans to extend the existing business content to cover recurring comp payments linked to the employee?

      Regards

      Hi Andreas

very nice Blog. I have tried out the Masterdata Dataflow, but i have Problems to load for example

      /SFA/PAY_SC_AR: Datensatz 1 ('SF CHE/50'): Ungültiges "Bis"-Datum '00000000'

      Meldungsnr. RSDMD188

      Diagnose

      /SFA/PAY_SC_AR: Datensatz 1 ('SF CHE/50'): Ungültiges "Von"-Datum '00000000'

      Meldungsnr. RSDMD187

      Diagnose

I followed the sap.help documentation. Is there any help somewhere?

      Thanks a lot.

      Kind regards,

      Adrian

      Hi Adrian,

it seems that neither "from" nor the "to" data get filled properly.

      Questions:

      • Do you have the issue only for PayScale Area Attribute (or Text?) or also when loading into other InfoObjects?

      • Are the two fields

      mdfSystemEffectiveStartDate

      mdfSystemEffectiveEndDate

properly filled in the staging DSO PayScaleArea (/SFA/SWFM16V2) or do they have initial value? If the fields are initial, I would suggest to check if something went wrong during the replication via HANA SDI.

If they are filled properly in the staging DSO but getting updated with '00000000' on the way into the InfoObject, I would suggest to check the transformation.

      Best regards,

      Andreas

      Hello,

      Very nice Post, very helpful,

One question regarding Systems and environments.
We are connecting our DevBW4 System to a Dev-SSFF and modelling there.
When we move objects to BW4-Prod System we get some error messages regarding some Custom Fields are not available in API in Prod. It makes sense since not all Developments were moved to SSFF-Prod and both systems are not synched(in meantime SSFF-Consultants are developing)

How to sort this things? Any Workaround?
The thing is, I dont want to Connect Dev-BW4 to a Prod-SSFF.

      thanks in advance.
