On May 6, 2019 we released S/4HANA Cloud for group reporting 1905 - the latest version of our next-generation software for financial consolidation and group close. This release is part of S/4HANA Cloud 1905, which includes Artificial Intelligence capabilities such as intelligent accruals management, defect code proposals and financial journal entry with intelligent robotic process automation.

From a consolidation standpoint, 1905 delivers on the following key new features:
• Streamlined master data maintenance with the Import Consolidation Master Data app
• Data Mapping apps to transform and load data from non-SAP systems
• Easier selections with the new Fiori Define Selections app
• Improved Data and Consolidation Monitors
• Enhanced preparation for consolidation group changes

STREAMLINED MASTER DATA MAINTENANCE
--

Creating and maintaining master data can sometimes be cumbersome and time consuming. With the 1905 release we deliver a new Import Consolidation Master Data app to help you easily maintain your master data in Microsoft Excel and import it into S/4HANA Cloud for group reporting. In this release, the new app is available for unit master data and consolidation group structure master data.

To facilitate mass edit operations when you are productive, you can download, complement and update existing master data in Excel. In case you start a new system, you can download an Excel template which includes the expected structure.

Our new Import Consolidation Master Data app includes a complete set of master data correctness check before importing your consolidation master data in S/4HANA Cloud for group reporting, as depicted in the screenshots below.

Our master data check capability is key in helping you ensure that all your updates, complement or changes in consolidation master data are correct before you import them in the system.

DATA MAPPING APPS
--

Our 1905 release Data Mapping apps help you transform and load data from any ERP system into S/4HANA Cloud for group reporting. Our apps are designed to help you accelerate operations such as the onboarding of newly acquired companies, or the data collection for subsidiaries using non-SAP ERP. The Data Mapping apps allow you to define mappings between source dimensions from any external system and target dimensions available in S/4HANA. The mappings can be directly created in Excel files and then downloaded in the Data Mapping definitions. These mapping files will be used to transform data and import it into S/4HANA. In the 1905 release, we deliver two new tiles: one to create data mapping definitions and the other to run data load. In 1905, the source is limited to .csv files, and the destination is restricted to the ACDOCU table of S/4HANA Cloud for group reporting.

We simplify the data mapping process by leveraging Excel: you can create and update your mapping between the source system and S/4HANA Cloud for group reporting in a spreadsheet. See below an example of a mapping file:

We provide you with the expected structure of the mapping file, as well as the S/4HANA dimensions list, syntax of filters, functions and rule hierarchy to help you define your mapping. At any point in time, you can download, edit and upload again your mapping file in our Define Data Mapping app.

During the data collection step of your consolidation, your business end-users just have to use the Run Data Mapping app, select the source file generated from their ERP system and run the process to load data into the SAP Universal Consolidation Journal Entries Table (ACDOCU).

NEW FIORI "DEFINE SELECTIONS" APP
--

A selection groups a range of consolidation master data, typically the financial statement items, by using various filter criteria. The defined selections can then be reused in consolidation-related settings, such as validation rules, reclassification methods, currency translation methods, and breakdown categories. This helps you make your configuration flexible and easier to maintain.

In 1905, we fully redesigned the selection UI using Fiori for a more user-friendly user experience. Our new Define Selections app replaces the former SSCUI.

Our app includes enhanced capabilities such as the ability to apply a selection to Reclassification Method, Currency Translation Method and Breakdown Category.

The app also embeds a Where-Used List to help you smoothly see and track where your selections are being used (validation rules, reclassification methods, etc.), as depicted in the screenshot below.

IMPROVED DATA AND CONSOLIDATION MONITOR APPS
--

S/4HANA Cloud for group reporting's Monitor apps help you closely follow and supervise your financial consolidation process both at data collection and consolidation levels. With our Monitor apps, you ensure data is consistent across your group reporting process. In 1905 we enhanced validation tasks in the Data Monitor and Consolidation Monitor apps. Our release delivers a consistent behavior for validations aligned with other tasks in both Monitor apps, as shown in the screenshot below.

ENHANCED PREPARATION FOR CONSOLIDATION GROUP CHANGES
--

When you acquire or divest a consolidation unit, you need to adjust financial data. Our Preparation for Consolidation Group Changes app automatically posts the necessary adjustments. In 1905, the adjustments are now automatically posted in the Consolidation Monitor. In addition, we embedded new information in the task log, such as detail on data reversal for the period prior to acquisition, after divestiture or at equity method.
