2019 TechEd Scholarship Program is Now Open for Applications (CLOSED)

This program is now closed. We are no longer accepting new applications.

Thank you for your interest in this scholarship program! Click here to view the list of winners>>>

Last year we started a scholarship program to increase the inclusivity of our SAP TechEd events, providing free access to some community members who had never attended an SAP TechEd event in the past. This year, we are continuing that program, but with a simpler application process. We want to avoid creating additional obstacles for those who may already face other challenges that prevent them from attending. In addition, our events team has been working over the past few years to increase support and inclusivity for our diverse attendees with improvements such as a nursing room and a code of conduct for the event.

Who should apply?

Access to the networking and educational opportunities of attending a major tech conference can be career-altering and life-changing. We know that there are many people who cannot attend conferences for a variety of reasons, including everything from cost of attendance or lack of managerial support to lack of childcare or caregiver for a family member. With this scholarship program, we are hoping to eliminate at least one of those obstacles by providing a fully paid ticket to one of three SAP TechEd events for thirty community members.*

If you identify as a member of an underrepresented group within the tech industry, we strongly encourage you to apply. You’ll find a space on the application form to share how you feel bias, discrimination, systemic disadvantages, life circumstances, or other obstacles have prevented you from attending an SAP event in the past, or might prevent you from attending in the future.

You can check out the full legal terms and pick up an application form here>>>

Your community would love to get to know you! Winners will meet with one of our team members at the event to participate in a casual interview, which will be highlighted on the community homepage. If you’re looking for an opportunity to stand out from the crowd and take your SAP career to the next level, this is it.

Why attend SAP TechEd?

You’ll want to attend an SAP TechEd event to meet with other SAP professionals, attend learning sessions about a full range of SAP technology topics, and hear about what’s new with SAP technology. Check out the agendas here>>>

SAP TechEd is held in three locations each year. This year’s dates and locations are as follows:

Las Vegas, September 24-27

Barcelona, October 8-10

Bangalore, November 13-15

Winners will also receive a special TechEd Explorer badge on their SAP Community profile.

How to Apply

To apply, simply fill out an entry form with your contact information and tell us a little bit about what attending this event would mean for you and your career. We are looking for extraordinary stories and Community members, so we want to know what might otherwise prevent you from attending the event, or what obstacles you’ve faced in the past that prevented you from attending.

Send your completed form to sapcommunity@sap.com. Incomplete or duplicate forms will not be considered.

This contest is open to anyone who has never attended an SAP TechEd event in the past.** Ten winners for each SAP TechEd event location will be selected based on the compelling nature of their entry forms. The contest will run from today, June 4, 2019 until Monday, July 15, 2019. Winners will be announced in the Community and will be notified via email starting the week of July 15, 2019. You may only apply for one location (duplicate entries will be discarded).

If you are ineligible to participate in this contest because you’ve attended SAP TechEd in the past, you may want to check out another opportunity to win a free ticket.

*Winners will be responsible for their own travel expenses.

**SAP employees and their families are not eligible to participate in the contest. See full rules for details and exclusions.

      Hi Ben,

There are legal limitations to these types of contests in the countries not included. Unfortunately, we don't have any ability to make exceptions.

      Best,

      Jamie

      Hi Jamie,

Thanks very much for this program.

I  just want to ask you one question, I had the experience of participating the SAP Tokyo NOW (It's a free event in Tokyo every year), but I don't have the experience of  Las Vegas, or Barcelona, or Bangalore , can I apply for this contest?

Thank you very much in advance.

      Best regards,

      Tom

      Hi Tom,

Yes, you can apply. The qualifications indicate that you have not participated in an SAP TechEd event, specifically.

      Cheers,

      Jamie

      Hi Jamie Cantrell ,

Employees, officers and representatives of SAP, and related companies are not eligible.

What is meant by SAP related companies? it means SA P Partners?

      Hi Abdul,

Partners are eligible. SAP-related would refer to something SAP-owned, like SuccessFactors, Ariba, etc.

      Best,

      Jamie

Same like last year Qatar and Pakistan is not in list. I think new countries should be given a chance every year instead of repeating same countries.

      Hi Abdul,

The included countries is not an arbitrarily generated list. Countries that are excluded have some sort of legal reason why they cannot be included.

      Best,

      Jamie
