SAP Best Practices for SAP Integrated Business Planning – 1905

In sync with the delivery of new versions of SAP Integrated Business Planning, we provide each quarter a new version of the SAP Best Practices for SAP Integrated Business Planning.
Besides the upgrade and test of the content and the technical assets based on the newest release, we enhance our scope with new topics and features. For 1905 we delivered a lot of smaller enhancements and changes on existing scope items, as well as several changes on the unified planning area SAPIBP1. Here some of the highlights for this release:

IBP – time-series-based inbound integration with SAP S/4HANA

1902 came with a new scope item covering the integration between SAP S/4HANA and IBP for time-series-based planning – see also my blog for 1902. With 1905 and with additional extractors in the SAP S/4HANA, supply chain integration add-on for SAP IBP and additional templates in SAP Cloud Platform Integration for data services (or CPI-DS) the list of available master data types and key figures is getting more complete. Here the now available master data types and key figures:

  • Location: Plant, DC
  • Product
  • Location Product
  • Resource
  • Location Resource
  • Subnetwork
  • Customer
  • Production Source Header
  • Production Source Item
  • NEW: Location Source
  • NEW: Customer Source
  • NEW: Target UoM
  • NEW: UoM Conversion Factor
  • NEW: Capacity Supply

IBP for sales and operations demand review

The scope item has been enhanced with a planning view using the Web-Based Planning app for sales manager, so that he can maintain his numbers very easy from everywhere.

Demand review – Web-based Planning app

IBP for sales and operations

The New Product Introduction process in IBP for sales and operations scope items has been simplified using realignment functions, so that the manual creation of planning objects and compound master data is no longer needed.

Sales and operations – Definition of realignment project

Process Management in IBP for sales and operations scope items has been enhanced with recurring processes, so that it’s only a one-time effort to create the complete series e.g. for a whole year.

Sales and operations – recurring processes

IBP for response and supply – supply review – optimizer

The IBP for response and supply supply reviewoptimizer scope item has been enhanced with an example to illustrate features such as aggregated constraints, late delivery, and fair share distribution, so that it’s much easier to adopt these features in your implementation project.

Forecast error calculation scope items

The forecast error calculation scope items (IBP for sales and operations – forecast error calculation and analysis and IBP for demand – forecast error calculation and analysis) have been updated by using multi-lag forecasting key figures, so that the model complexity is reduced because separate key figures per lag are not needed anymore

Enhancements unified planning area SAPIBP1
