This blog is relevant for customers and partners who are implementing Employee Central and using business rules.

Use Case:

Before 1802 business rules could be enabled or disabled by one single setting in Admin Center for Import process. The drawback of this was either all rules were OFF or all rules were ON irrespective of the underlying EC objects during imports.  To provide more flexibility and control on which user executes the rule, to admin on what kind of rules get executed during imports in this release the configuration has been moved under RBP permissions.

Below I talk about how these configurations can be controlled.

Before 1802:

As discussed above execution of rules during imports was part of Admin center.  To enable or disable this configuration go to Admin Center -> Company System and Logo Settings -> tick the box for “Enable rules execution during Job Information import” and then click “Save Company System Setting” button at the bottom of the page.

In 1802 and after:

To provide more flexibility and control on what kind of rules get triggered the configuration is moved to RBP permissions.  To access them go to Admin Center -> Manage Permission Roles -> “Admin Roles that has these permissions” -> Permission -> Administrator Permissions -> Employee Central Import Settings, here you can control the rules based on the EC objects and other configurations like propagation and incremental imports.  Below is a screen shot of the settings.
